We booked this place for a team lunch to enjoy the birthday special. I arrived first from my team members (8 in total). The waitress received me at the door and took me to the seat where the divider can be removed to provide a longer seat. However, she dropped the 8 menus onto the table which was unprofessional and not a good sight. She then removed the divider a bit too fast almost knocking the items on the table. I asked if there was any birthday specials and she responded that there were no burger specials. I asked again and she confirmed there was no birthday and burger specials. One colleague arrived 10min later and I decided to place my order as I was quite hungry. She asked my order and I asked for water with no ice and I ordered the "rump / sirloin with 3 hot veg" special. However she stood there not mentioning anything and I looked up to her wondering what else she wanted to know. She then asked with a straight face how I would like the meat cooked and I was quite upset with her service style and attitude. I told her I do not like the way she is behaving and serving and if she wants to know something from me, she must ask and not wait or expect me to give her the answer she wants to know. I told her I was quite hungry and as a result, not in a great mood. She looked at me with a straight face and said "oh... ... sorry" sarcastically and left. The waiter that brought two glasses of water (which was with ice) was a man, which means the lady was not impressed and happy to serve me (that's probably a win-win for both of us). It's also probably the first time I've encountered a waiter / waitress giving their customers to another waiter / waitress because they can't change their attitude and are willing to forfeit potentially good tip. Nevertheless, I asked him for water with no ice which he brought another two glasses. He then brought my order but with two hot veg only. I asked him if that is what the special was about and he seemed a bit lost by my question and I showed him the advert paper of the special and he said he will get the 3rd hot veg, which he did. During the time, the other colleagues came and their order was placed and delivered. The waiter took a long time to take my plate away after I was done. While I've expressed my experience in detail, a couple of my colleagues did share that the service of the waiter was not on par. In total, my experience was bad (with all the little simple things of a waitering going wrong even though it was not busy) and it is very unlikely I will go to this Spur unless I meet with the manager on duty to rectify...

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Texakhana Spur Steak Ranch at Rosebank Mall has truly left me with an unforgettable dining experience. As a Halaal eater, finding a restaurant that caters to my dietary needs without compromising on flavor and quality can be quite a challenge. However, Texakhana Spur exceeded my expectations in every way, making it the best Halaal Spur restaurant in South Africa!
Firstly, let's talk about the food. I had the pleasure of indulging in their Peri-Peri Chicken, and it was absolutely divine. The chicken was tender, juicy, and bursting with delightful flavors. The spices were perfectly balanced, giving it a tantalizing kick without being overpowering. It was an explosion of taste in every bite, leaving me wanting more.
Next up were the steak nachos, and oh boy, they were a mouthwatering delight. The generous portions of succulent steak combined with the crispy nacho chips and a medley of toppings created a harmonious symphony of flavors. The blend of melted cheese, fresh salsa, and creamy guacamole made each bite a heavenly experience. It was a true fiesta for my taste buds!
To accompany my meal, I decided to try their black cherry lemonade. It was a refreshing and perfectly balanced beverage. The zesty tanginess of the lemonade complemented the sweet notes of black cherry, creating a thirst-quenching and delightful drink that perfectly complemented the bold flavors of my meal.
Apart from the exceptional food, the service at Texakhana Spur was top-notch. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made me feel welcome and ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

Read moreSunday’s so-called “Kids Day” event at Spur Rosebank was a complete catfish experience.
We were there the week before, showed interest in the event, and were told we had to book because it gets full and kids won’t be able to enjoy the activities or giveaways. We booked for 9:30am and were even called on Sunday morning by Spur to confirm our booking because they were “fully booked.” We rushed to get there on time… and the restaurant was nearly EMPTY. Maybe 3 tables seated.
Despite making it very clear to our waiter that we were there for the kids event with two children, we were told to order off the kids menu and reassured all activities were free. We placed our breakfast order within 10 minutes — but waited 40 minutes for two cappuccinos, a water, and a Cappy. One child’s drink was forgotten and arrived another 10 minutes later. The food? Over an HOUR in an EMPTY restaurant, and came out cold.
When the kids went for popcorn and crepes, they were told they couldn’t have any because they didn’t have the “sticker” — which only comes with the kiddies buffet. WHAT? We were never told that, despite repeatedly asking how it all works. The kids couldn’t have popcorn, couldn’t play certain games, and couldn’t get toys or vouchers — all because of the wrong info from the waiter.
And the “giveaways”? What 3-year-old wants to play Jenga?
To top it all off, our waiter turned up his nose at a R100 tip on an R800 bill. Unbelievable.
We are regulars — a family of 10 who visit Spur Rosebank monthly. But after this humiliating and frustrating experience, we won’t be returning. Total waste of time, money, and most of all — a major letdown...
