Big Daddy's Restaurant — Restaurant in George

Ok this post is a few days old due to the long weekend...

Long story...

We were on holiday in Mosselbaai for the heritage long weekend, as a party of 10 we went to the harbor looking for a place to have lunch.

The two venues we visited were too pricey or too formal for our group, we randomly asked a stranger along the road what they would recommend for our group, with out blinking she recommended Big Daddy's, or spur(but now come on who travels and goes to spur)

We arrived at the venue and were warmly greeted outside before we even entered the venue, got in and got introduced to our waiter, (sadly I can't remember her name to give her a positive review). She escorted us through the restaurant and gave great recommendations for tables for our group size. We sat down and boom everyone had a menu in front of us. After a brief period our waitron returned ready to take our orders, as it was braai day no one really wanted red meat as we were braaing later and we all choice either seafood or chicken for a light lunch. (here is where the story really begins).

We all ordered one beverage and one meal, the waitron was kind enough to ask do we want our drinks with our food or before but we said before(we could always order more).

Our order was rung up drinks were brought to the table and I won't lie less than 10min later our food started to arrive.

The commen comments around are table was "are these people serious with their portions" I'm talking about one meal was enough to feed three people.

Quality of the food on point, and to out suprise we were even offered a portion of complimentary onion rings for our group (let's not say portion it was a huge bowl)

Our waiter constantly checked up on us and even smiled with the weird request of extra lemon and some hot sauce.

Now for the shocker, we couldn't finish our meals and asked for takeaway containers and the bill, the bill arrives... R820 I mean honestly for 10 people such great service and huge portions and I'm saying food and drinks it came to R820 (basically R82 per person).

If you read this far here are my recommendations, If you ever are in Mosselbaai looking for a place to eat go to Big Daddy's, the locals rave about it and I will give my stamp of approval glady.

Very nice restaurant if your expecting a Lanie restaurant this is not it. It's a home feeling like visiting ouma and now we're going to eat a good meal. The restaurant was neat and clean (especially the toilets) The honesty of the waitron/ owner was outstanding he did not have the original size eisbein so dropped the price with R50 on the special with ribs👌When the eisbein came it was still big in my opinion to other restaurants around.... So I can't wait to see the original size to give the award to this restaurant for the Best eisbein in town. The Ribs is the best I've tasted since I was a child at mike's kitchen, and it was an adequate amount. The cutlery was sharp and clean and the plates were big and sturdy to fill the plates. Only thing I can suggest is some traditional sour crout with eisbein and this place will fulfill traditional Eisbein with chips. I did ask friends and family about this place and their remarks were the same as me... Good Service honest info about the food and a good experience. I give this...

You can’t get better value for money when it comes to food than this. And despite the food being so well priced it is great from what I have had.

The atmosphere is great for a bar, maybe not the best for a restaurant but still fun and since a big part of the place is a bar it does fit.

We have had some issues with service, but also only when wanting to pay. We have had to walk up to the front counter to pay after waiting for several minutes. This has happened twice now already. Looking past the waiting times, the staff are very friendly and treats you great. You feel like a valued customer when you eat here.

Except for the service being a bit slow the place is a high recommended place for me and I will go here again...
