My wife and I always visit this place every time we visit Cape Town. I first discovered it through Lonely Planet travel guide and visited it to have some coffee. The bar is overcrowded and I couldn't get my turn. Maybe I'm not sure where to order, from the cashier or from the guy at the bar? I did not like the fast pace vibe of the bar, maybe that's how Italian coffee shops are, it seems a bit unfriendly or business-like....Anyway, the main attraction for me is the shop and the deli. It stores a wide range of imported goods, mostly from Italy but also from Europe (UK & France) and also from South Africa (the high quality brands like Chaloner, Tokara, Morgenster, etc). Has a wide selection of panettones, imported meats and cheeses, imported drinks, top-class local wines, pantry stuff like Italian rice, olives, artichokes, pastas, coffees. They also store some fancy breads and super luxury stuff (which may cost thousands) such as caviar, foei gras, etc. If you want a bargain in French cheese, you may consider the ones which are about to expire, you might get it at half the price or less.

You know the best part of feasting late at night just before loadshedding is Giovanni's. This is the best part..... When I went to pay, there were two till ladles giggling with such an effectuous giggle that I had to start laughing with them. I asked what it was about, but they said it was to long to explain. Understanding that I said, "Don't you know that I am being picked up by my friend right now, and he is going to ask why I am crying with laughter?" My reason would reply, "I don't actually know! ". This was the best giggle I had in a long time. Not only is the food excellent and service fantastic, but it is your second home. 10,0000/10 🌟 ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIOVANNI'S 👌🏼 .....# I still don't know what the giggles were about 🤔🤣

Well traveling throughout South Africa I had the pleasure of having breakfast at different locations, this by far is in my top 3 if not my number one spot to get breakfast in Cape Town. The environment really brings out the quality of people in the local area along with walking distance to all the main attractions near the Waterfront. In the picture you are looking at a cappuccino which was accompanied with a Caprese sandwich. You can make your own sandwich which they will happily toast or you can buy the sandwiches pre-made and they will toast them for you and bring it to the location that you're sitting at. They also have an amazing little market and the customer service is indulging which will make you come back again and again.

Always good. Food is delicious, spoilt for choice the worst part is making the decision. Never walk out without having to purchase something for the drive or a snack for home. If you have never been it's not always that straight forward but you watch what others are doing and you catch on rather quickly. Otherwise grab a lil black basket at the deli counter put ur fresh bread on it then back to the deli and have ur choice of toppings I usually do a croissant with cheese and salami and some avo find a spot at the bar order ur coffee. You can have ur sandwich toasted if u like jus ask someone at the bar once its arrived. The ladies at the deli are very friendly if u need any other assistance they're glad to help. Enjoy

Giovanni's is one of the best places in Cape Town, which is a delightful spot for anyone craving authentic Italian flavors. The deli offers a wide range of imported Italian goods, including cheeses, cold cuts, and freshly made foods and juice. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help you find the perfect ingredients for your Italian culinary adventures. Whether you're looking for a quick sandwich or gourmet ingredients for a special recipe. You can do a take away or sit in and dine. It can get quite busy here and very crowded but it is worth it. Their coffee is also out of this world.

I rented an AirBnb apartment above Giovanni’s and for a while I considered not to say anything about this gem of a place, just because I didn’t think that I would be able to get space again if I rave about how wonderful this 4 bed appartment was. It is like beign invited to tour rich uncles place, food downstairs and sleeping quarters upstairs. The food is great, the options are enormous and friendly staff makes you want to sit down and stay for coffee, oh wait yes you can. Most perfect place to spend a few bucks and a few conversations with the great people here.
