I recently had the pleasure of visiting this deli that left me thoroughly impressed with its exceptional offerings and top-notch service.
One of the standout features of this deli is its commitment to quality. The products, both local and imported, showcase a dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients. The cheese and meats on display are of impeccable quality, reflecting a true appreciation for Italian culinary traditions. The variety of options ensures that there is something for every palate, every budget and the knowledgeable staff is always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions.
The highlight of my visit was the freshly baked bread selection. The breads were not only visually appealing but also lived up to their promise of absolute freshness and taste.
The staff's friendliness and willingness to assist further enhanced the overall visit. Their passion for the products they offer is contagious, making customers feel valued and appreciated. The warm and personalized service adds a special touch that distinguishes this deli from others.
Various staff members went out of their way to go look if they had any product in the back which we wanted that was not on the shelf. They packaged the cold meats so beautifully. They answered all our questions.
The only down side is that the place is very small which makes it hard to navigate through the shop due to the amount of...
Read moreWe are fortunate to live very close to Giovanni's and since moving to Cape Town twenty years ago and have patronized the business ever since. The attention to quality and service is worthy of the highest praise. Whether you choose to sit and enjoy first class, barrista prepared coffee and to visit the deli, selecting your preference of bread, from a myriad of choices, including French baguettes, beigles, seeded rolls, paco secos (Portuguese rolls) and much more but the real treat is to then visit the deli counter to select the filling. Cheeses in abundance, many of which you would not of heard of (smile sweetly and the darlings behind the counter will give you a sample to taste.) Add pickles, salad and dressing and you end up with a delicious 'meal' that will suffice for lunch! Or if you choose to shop and takeaway, it would be remiss of me not to mention the veritable Alladin's Cave of produce. Wines, oils, cocktail mixers, fresh fruit and vegetables and difficult to resists, racks of premium confectionery. All of which are of exemplary quality. Finally, despite constantly being busy, there is always a sufficient compliment of staff that waiting to be served is not an issue. In my opinion, the constant presence of the proprietors, during their long hours and seven days a week trading, ensures that the quality and service I have enjoyed over two decades, has never fallen...
Read moreA great Cape Town treasure - this place has completely ruined me for pesto - I simply cannot deal with the garlicky green gunk that other stores try to pass off as pesto - these guys make 3 sensational varieties - way better than I could ever make myself, they have the best hummus by far in town, (lots of varieties - all chemical free) a wonderful selection of freshly made salads, dips etc, and the most amazing, great value deli counter with something for absolutely everyone - very well thought out. The ingredients lists on their prepared foods always amaze me - so basic, no chemicals or weird long names - just ingredients! just pure utter deliciousness. One can easily go bankrupt there - but purely because of their great range - the shelves are packed with all kinds of gastronomic treats and delights, wonderful gift ideas. Too much yumminess... PLUS they are actually much, much better value than woolies or pnp, etc if you actually compare the products - and much better, reliable and consistent quality. You can easily see why almost every deli that opens in Cape Town tries to...
