McDonald's uMhlanga Drive-Thru — Restaurant in KwaZulu-Natal

They say location, location is important for any property or business. So that box is ticked as Mc Donalds Umhlanga is situated close to the freeway, hospital, hotels, the residences across the freeway etc. etc. Now a known international brand where you know what you gonna get and what you gonna pay and your choices are not limited to just a grab and go, sitting in your car and living the rat race or going into a clean venue, where attention is paid to cleaning, hygiene and food safety standards. Mc Donalds Umhlanga certainly delivers the high intetnational standards. Trust me, I check and checked at least the gents on this occasion! So after an inspection and a relief, I placed my order and I have managed to get the loyalty app on my phone working, and proceeded to the counter to collect my order. As usual, there is a steady flow of people grabbing a meal or sitting and relaxing and dining in. My order was collected and presented to me by the Manager. I complained to her about not being able to delegate and get her staff to do their jobs, especially as there was a trainee standing at the till! See, I do complain if things are not to my satisfaction! Now for the record, I do not get paid yet to do these surveys and have to use the money, borrowed from a bank to pay for these meals. Now I am ageing and will not risk getting that Manager's name wrong! Kudos to her for putting me in my place and not just telling me, that she leads by example, but had shown me. Guys, believe me I will be back there and then get her name and her number as that girl is on fire!! If I could afford a business and needed someone with spunk, personality, looks, brains- I would kidnap her as I could not afford to buy her or pay her the salary that she should deserve! Now I would love to post pictures and have a pic of her, but I was so humbled and my mind blown, that I could not think straight. Needless to say the grub was good and I was back there again tonight, however she was not there! I do think the loyalty app needs a lot of work! It seems that you only get loyalty points if you redeem a specific order or menu item. Not all items are covered and then the quantity is restricted. Took more time trying to learn the loyalty app than ordering, paying and getting food. Not sure how app would even work with...

This is a McDonald's you know exactly the kind of food you are going to get and when you are in the mood for it it's brilliant. The nice thing about this McDonald's is that it's open very late however we have experienced some problems here. The parking lot is incredibly difficult to cross as none of the vehicles will give way to pedestrians and will not stop if you are already crossing before a vehicle has even arrived. It is designed in such a way that you have to cross the drive through queue to get inside the restaurant. Also if you come here late at night the parking lot is not safe and full of beggars. We are pretty sure the one guy was trying to distract us so someone else could pick pocket us but we can't verify this, we just felt incredibly unsafe trying to cross the parking lot after having gotten our food. As for the restaurant experience we once had the kiosk fail to print our slip because it ran out of paper and it was incredibly difficult to get the front till to print out a copy of our slip. Our most recent experience we ordered a spicey chicken burger which we have ordered many other times at other McDonald's and always enjoyed but this one was incredibly hot which made it difficult to enjoy and we are not sure why. Sit down meals not drive thru :- We were vacationing in the area so we decided to get breakfast here. On the first visit, there were meals advertised on the screen for a breakfast deal but we couldn’t find it on the self service menu kiosk so we called over a staff member…. She went on to defiantly tell us that she was the manager and not a staff member?? Whatever, as that doesn’t solve the issue that we couldn’t order the deal that was advertised. She went on to tell us that it’s not her fault as it was not available in the store and that she hasn’t even received her posters etc…how is that our concern and why advertise it then!! Anyway, we ordered our meals and sat down, they took over 25 minutes to prepare the breakfast items!! We weren’t the only ones waiting on their meals as others were constantly asking the waitress to check but she just dismissed them saying “I will bring it” We went there again hoping this trip would be better. We ordered our meals (4) but they bring out only 3 which took over 20 minutes to arrive. When we told the waitress that there was 1 meal short, she got offended and quickly disagreed but I had my till slip with me and now had to show & tell it to her line by line!!
