Calisto's Suncoast — Restaurant in Stamford Hill

My scoring system is based on the food and not the service. A waitron’s service will determine his tip at the end of the meal, but ultimately it is the quality and palatability of the food served that determines whether one returns to dine at a restaurant or not. I rate dishes on each element and then give that dish on overall rating out of five stars, one being terrible and five being excellent. Finally, I add the scores of each dish together and then divide it by the number of dishes ordered to calculate the overall score of the food eaten.

Starters Sharlene - Fried Squid Heads 1 out of 5 – Was saltier than the Atlantic Ocean. Starters Theo - Rissois Chicken – 4 out of 5 – Was a decent portion and tasted good, but was cold in the center.

Main course Sharlene - Bacalhau Assado – 4 out of 5 – Cod was perfectly cooked and a good-sized portion. Sadly, the peppers on top were an unrecognizable mush. The side of chips was extremely oily. Main course Theo - Seafood Platter for one 0 out of 5 – Hake was oily and overcooked, chips where oily and tasted like it was reheated. Prawns was so badly overcooked I could not peel the shells from the prawns. Calamari was rubber and inedible. Mussels were overcooked and cheese sauce split.

Desert 0 out of 5. Cheesecake was not available. Normally we would order a substitute but since the first five mains we ordered from the menu was not available either I decided not to substitute it as substitute choices on the main courses were nothing but disappointing.

Overall score 1.8 out of 5 stars. Disappointing rather avoid dinning here. Your money would be better spent buying a garage pie and after leaving this restaurant you probably will stop for one on your way home, as their food will leave you feeling hungry and craving a...

We went to Calisto's for dinner last night. I got to say the food was amazing. Unfortunately the service was most disappointing. We waited outside the restaurant for more than 5 minutes with no one to assist us. We had at ask a waiter if they where open. He said yes we are, go inside and find a table someone will be would you shortly. We walked in found a table and waited for another 10 minutes before a lady came to us. I got to say by then I was all ready to leave the restaurant. Nevertheless we waited for her to come back to us. She asked us if we knew what we would like to eat because the kitchen is busy and she can put out order though at the same time she gets our drinks. We knew what we were going to order so we did exactly that. She then served our drinks 15 minutes later and our food within the next few minutes. I got to say the food was really good. We never saw the waitress again. She never came back to check if we needed anything. It's was only when we asked to speak to the manager did she come back to clear our table and ask if we needed anything. By then we just wanted to leave because we could not handle most terrible slight of the kitchen bin that most of waiters and waitress was using but no one thought of cleaning up the mess. NOT even the manger that walked pass this bin area a number off time. Mind you this bin can be seen from the table we where seated at. Also my husband when to the toilet to which he was totally disgusted. And he took out a photo off the cleaning sheet which was already ticked up until 10pm but it was only 8pm. Not really sure when last that toilet was cleaned. We spoken to the Manger. High lighted our experience at his restaurant. Unfortunately I don't think we will be returning to...

Went to suncoast 2 weeks ago after church wanting to eat Calistos. We asked to wait till they open that was about 45 minutes time. Once they open a waiter came to take our drinks order. My daughter wanted a started with our drinks order. Our drinks arrived and then we gave our other order. After a while we called waiter to enquire about the starter as other patrons were getting their meals, he said he assumed we want the starter with the meals. My daughter was cross because we had already waited so long for them to open. Because she questioned him about not bringing the starter first, he came back with another waiter and rudely told us that he doesn't want to serve us and that the other waiter would take over. We asked for manager to whom we complained about his attitude but was reassured that the new waiter will help us. The food was horrible like the chicken that I order was not fresh. The meat was tough and difficult to eat. My small daughter I had ordered chicken pasta without the jalapeño and some other stuff that was mentioned on the menu, we asked for it just to have pasta and chicken and white sauce but because of the change of the waiter the meal was brought as per menu. My child just ate about 3 spoonful and left it. After that meal myself and my two daughter became sick for the next few days. Will not be going back there anymore. That was my favorite restaurant at suncoast but with not be going there again. Waiters attitude really needed...
