We stayed in Franschhoek for 4 nights and ate here on two occasions, having been recommended by a local B&B. We tried the place after it had been open only 3 weeks. Wow!! This is going to be a very successful bar and restaurant.

Starters (such as the Baba Ganoush and blackened prawns) were sublime; beautifully presented and high on flavour and texture. Steaks were perfectly cooked (Rare and Med Rare) and came with generous sides (the red cabbage slaw was amazing: fresh, crunchy and fulsome). The service is provided by smiling, well-trained staff (special shout out to Given, Mavis, and McDonald). The wine list is short but perfectly adequate and includes the amazing (local) L'Ormarins sparkling wine, which we highly recommend.

We've also been for a drink at the bar, where the service is just as efficient and friendly. The bar range may be limited, but we enjoyed a couple of excellent gin & tonics.

As a visiting Brit, Franks Corner was exceptionally good value. As a former hospitality manager, I recognise the high standards of training and the equally high standards of food cooking and presentation. If I lived closer, I would be a (very) regular customer. However, I shall certainly return on my next...

We were planning to have lunch here as a family, but what happened at the door completely changed our minds.

My wife politely asked a waiter if our 6-year-old daughter could use the restroom. The response was an easy yes, which any decent person would expect when a child is involved. But as they made their way in, a second staff member abruptly blocked them and stated it was “for customers only.”

A six-year-old. This is not only poor service, it’s basic human decency lacking. We were moments away from being customers, planning to eat lunch there, but after being treated like that, we left.

This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and short-sighted. Businesses that turn away families over something so small shouldn’t be surprised when those families take their money—and their recommendation, elsewhere.

Shame on you for how you...

Not the best food reviews / online makes it out to be. Food taste like it was pre made / heated in microwave. Kitchen staff were lazy to make my toddler a tomato based pasta with no chili in it. They served my 2 year old chili tomato sauce pasta and denied putting anything spicy in it until the waiter even tried it himself and could hear him from the kitchen shouting it was spicy. Toddler was crying so much and had no apology. Empty restaurant so kitchen staff were not busy and could have easily made it. Just really disappointed.

Cacio Pepe - zero black pepper & way too cheese wet sauce.

Pork taco - dry & too sweet

Fried chicken - ok, wasn’t crispy or fresh out the fryer

Prawn taco - drowned in sauce

Smoked Aubergine - bit bland but prob the better dish

Staff were friendly but only kitchen was...

What a lovely serendipitous discovery for us upon our revisit to charming Franschoek. Quaint and chic designed patio for a bright sunny afternoon meal or a lovely sundown setting. The interiors aren’t too shabby either. The menu was diner-like but with extra touches of classy options, eg tartare, carpaccio (I read that one of the owners is American, hence so). Portions were generous and the sauces and final products were downright culinary aces, simple dishes but just very simply made well without any fancy shenanigans. The tartare tostada was a gem of a choice, and special mention to the devilishly decadent pecan tart. Craft beer options were on point too and all at very fair prices. One of our most memorable meals during our last trip to CapeTown, sublime without pretension.

A lovely, relaxed environment with good food, wine and service to match. We started with buffalo wings, which were great with just the right amount of spice. Sole meunière was a large fish cooked to perfection, served with a big side of spinach. The other main dish was hake fish and chips with peas. Again, it was a generous size but cooked very well; the triple cooked chips were especially good. Dessert was a nice crème brûlée with a nice crack to the top and a tart key-lime pie. The own-brew lager was light and refreshing, the sparkling brut rosé wine was great and the local Sauvignon blanc ticked all the right boxes. Service was professional, efficient and engaging. A good option if you can’t get a reservation at some of the fine dining restaurants in the area.

This was my second visit to Frank's Corner, and it completely outshined my first experience! Previously, I tried their burger, mac n' cheese bites, fries, cocktails, and wine, which were all divine. However, today I decided to try their corn dogs, and let me just say, this dish has stolen my heart. The first bite was an explosion of flavor—like heaven in my mouth! I can confidently say this will be my go-to order from now on. The service was just as amazing as the food. My waiter, Thabisi, was an absolute gem—so sweet and attentive. She truly made the experience even more enjoyable and deserves a raise! Can't wait to come back for another round of deliciousness. ❤️
