What an amazing place with great people food and drinks and don't forget the beautiful beach overlooking the bay.The service is of good quality as the waiter looking after you makes sure your every need is met .Wow the food is amazing and platters seem to work for more than 2 people. The drinks menu has a large variety to choose from as well as the dessert menu. The crowd of people varies from very young to very matured.Families are also welcome as kids gets to play in the sand and has so much fun. I was very impressed with the little boutique that sells the most beautiful clothes made of silk and I got to fit on some of the beautiful and most popular garments. Thanks again Shireen for allowing me to fit on your store clothes I had so much.fun.Thr designers are South African as well as different designers from overseas. You can only find one outfit of each design this makes ladies come into the store fighting as to who gets that one garment. They sell shoes bags and other accessories. The music was so amazing thank you Theo for your awesome music you played yesterday you got the crowd going wild with fun..thank you Grand Africa for an epic night filled with beautiful sunset and making new friends.

If you go to a restaurant for a great atmosphere and to take nice pictures then this is definitely a place for you. But if like me, you go to a restaurant for good food and great service then don't even waste your time going here well unless you order pizza bc apparently that is good. I ordered Prawn Linguine and the actual meal to begin with came cold and late. The meal smelled, like expired prawns or like the prawns weren't kept in cold. The sauce that the spaghetti was dipped in had no flavour at all, like if you give me the same sauce I wouldn't know that it's the exact sauce I ate, it's not memorable, it had no flavour at all, like I'm eating nothing. Had to put like a tsp of salt and pepper to taste something. The hostess was fine at first, Amelia her name I think, she was helpful in welcoming us but after giving us our first course she never came back to check if we need anything else, we had to call her everytime, and it wasn't packed like less than 30 people at the place, at one point I asked her for another cocktail, it never came, she gave us a bill when we weren't even done eating. And we settled the bill (by card) I had extra cash in my wallet, so I gave her all of it as a tip, she then told us this tip is short, and called the manager on us saying why do we go to restaurants when we don't have money, the female manager came to us and told us the waitresses/waiters don't get paid by the Life Grand and can only receive salary by tips so we have to add the "required" tip or else she won't get an income, when we told her we don't have any other cash, she should bring the card machine so we can pay for it, she later said no it's fine she'll pay the tip herself. B.S if you ask me. I won't lie, I was gonna go back to this restaurant to try out other dishes but after the last alternation, I'm not going back, it really left a bitter taste in my mouth more than those bad prawns. The male manager was really nice though

EDIT: The original 2-star experience took place close to the start of the pandemic. Based on my original review the Restaurant invited me back, and honoured their invitation in 2022 3 years after my visit. On the second visit (during the day) we really enjoyed the food, and drinks. Everything was well prepared and the service was good. great for a warm afternoon. They seemed a little understaffed (sometimes hard to find a waiter), but I think that is probably because of starting up after Covid. Grand Africa has a lovely location with tables in the sand and a beautiful view. There is also a private (pay) parking lot which is nice. However the service didn't live up to the expectation for me. The pizzas looked good. The bouillabaisse had a lot of seafood. Things that went wrong: 1) Ordered 2 drinks, the first one arrived after a long wait, and the second one substantially later than the first. 2) As we got up to watch the sunset at the waters edge we were told that our food would be arriving in about 5 minutes, so we did a quick visit to the water and got back, but our food arrived about 30 minutes later 3) my food was rood temperature and needed to be sent back to be warmed 4) my partner ordered the prawn linguine and we thought the ratio of prawns to linguine (4 prawns) was a bit off (see my bad picture). 5) a waiter hit my patners head with a tray and didn't acknowledge this at all. 6) our cutlery arrived at different times. Overall a disappointing experience.

One of Cape Town's best kept secrets. Slightly off the main drag of Mouille Point and the Waterfront - Grand Cafe is a huge venue that starts off chilled and relaxed with kids and dogs welcome, some relaxed couch seating on the left and the more formal seating on the right for larger groups and sit down lunches. Perfect setting with the most amazing view of the ocean to watch the bustle on the water. Very easy to get stuck here all day and just while away the hours. Beach sand under the toes and a very cool and eclectic crowd and of course the very trendy and beautiful. Food is good to great and various salads, seafood and these monster pizzas good to share in a group as well as some meat dishes. The seafood platters looked very impressive. No booking required for the couch section and getting there early would be advised. Loads of umbrellas for shade as it can get hot and perfect if you want to get a tan whilst sipping on cocktails. Huge indoor area as well and later in the afternoon the music gets turned up also djs and it becomes more rowdy and a perfect spot to boogie and get the party started. Top notch spit and a great reflection of what Cape Town has to offer.
