Gwangjang Market Chapssal Kkwabaegi (Glutinous Rice Twist) — Restaurant in Seoul

Visited this place on a weekend evening. The location is pretty strategic just outside the exit of the metro station. Was there around 5pm and the queue was quite crazy, queued for about 20 minutes before it was my turn to order. Queue was long but the service was quite efficient it didn't move very quickly but was moving constantly like every other minute. There were only 4 main items on sale: the main pretzel which is the signature, then the other flavours were the donuts. They also seem to offer beverages but don't think the people were interested in the beverages. I ordered the pretzel and the sweet potato glutinous rice donut. I think 2 were good enough because they are pretty chewy and doughy and the glutinous rice can actually make it very filling. I loved the donut because the skin was crispy and the filling was generous. The pretzel, though plain without anything inside, is also quite delicious with the cinnamon powder and sugar coating. Best of all it's a filling and cheap snack to get. One piece of the item is probably less than 1 USD which makes it so affordable and hence you get people in the queue buying at least 10 of them. Don't be too greedy and just buy enough to eat on the spot. It tastes better when it is fresh and hot. The opening hours are pretty long hence I don't think they will just run out...

This shop sells only 4 items. Unfortunately, I only tried 2 (₩1,000 each) All items were kneaded, rolled/filled and deep fried on the spot. The Sweet Rice Twisted Doughnut was coated with a fine layer of sugar and cinnamon just before serving. Biting into it was divine, especially when it's still warm and soft. I also had the Black Rice Glutinous Doughnut which was equally delicious. The rice is ground into a paste and stuffed generously into a near flattened ball of dough. If I'm ever back here again, i'm also trying the Sweet Potato Glutinous and Red Bean Doughnuts (₩1,500 each). I was there at 9.45 and there was already a queue but the vendor started serving as soon as they were ready, even before 10am and the queue moved quite fast (unless someone ahead of you buys a bag for his/her colleagues/family and a new batch needs to be...

I recommend their twisted doughnut the most, it’s super soft and chewy, every bite was just that great✨. The light cinnamon powder just comprehend the taste even more. I regret only buy one piece for me😭. I would rate it 11/10~

I also tried their red bean doughnuts, it’s chewy and over too sweet for me, moreover it’s kinda greasy so not that recommended. 6/10 for me~

People already queued before they open so better be fast guys! I queued 10 minute before and I’m already in...
