Playground Pub - Hongdae — Restaurant in Seoul

Terrible bar. Came here after reading the reviews and multiple blogs stating that this was a fun and lively place to meet people; we found it pretty hard to do so considering we were literally the only people in there after being conned in some sort of Inbetweeners-esque scenario - the sign above stated LAYGROUND, yet there were no lays to be had.

It is a run-down, filthy place that is reminiscent of the worst bars you would find in the grimiest corners of the Ayia Napa strip, and I can only assume the reviews of it are from people that have never attempted to engage in another country's culture when visiting, so resort to a somewhat familiar tackiness in which to spend their evenings on holiday. The bartender was lovely, but I think even they were aware that no one comes there for the atmosphere, so is happy to keep churning out poorly mixed drinks constructed of cheap alcohol so long as the owner keeps funding their time living overseas.

In short, do not visit this place; you will be better off filling a backpack with cheap cans of beer from the shops nearby and spending your evening sitting in the actual playground opposite, that way you will actually find some atmosphere and culture in this wonderful city rather than a hollow disco of...

It's was my first time going to korea and i find that pub by chance. If you want to make korean friends, i think that place will match your taste perfectly. I haved the pleasure to meet 3 korean friends last weekend and after enjoying the party they take me to another place to drink alcohol and eat korean food.

The experience was really nice and i have a lot of fun. I also exchange my Instagram with these people and we meet again to have a diner.

Great bar to get yummy cocktails and meet new friends. I love playing beer pong here and they have cocktails for beer pong if you don’t like beer.
