After a relaxing time at the spa, we came across Soma during our evening exploration walk. What an absolute gem of a find. We had almost everything on the menu and each dish was exquisite. The presentation and the flavours from one dish excited us for the next. We started off with the Chicken Salad with Wood Ear mushroom, followed by the Cheung Fun and steamed Egg with Clam and Snow Fungus. I didn't think I'd like the Egg with Clam but the texture of the Snow Fungus with the egg and clam was a winner. Next came the Clay Pot Rice with Braised Short Ribs - WOW. Could be the best Braised Short Ribs I've ever had. Next came the Kang Pao Chicken which had some well balanced, very nice heat. The chicken was moist and with the combination of the dried Szechuan peppers and cashews, I would have eaten another order if I wasn't so full. Though, I did have some room for dessert and the Macha Cake with Raspberry Compote which was the "raspberry" on top. We shared a bottle of red but from the recommendation from the owner, we switched to bubbles which was the right call. The carbonation helped with the heat and especially complimented the Kang Pao Chicken. Everything was incredible and one of my top dining experiences. The service was next level and the dishes were explained perfectly. What a...

This gem of a restaurant was around the corner from our Hanok in the Gongno-gu area. This is close to the palace and the Hanok Village. After 8 nights of great Korean food, we fancied a change in cuisine, and stumbled across Soma which offers a Cantonese fusion menu. We were greeted warmly by the host Jeon (hope I have spelled the name correctly) who made us feel instantly comfortable in the airy and calm space at Soma. The menu is thoughtful, consisting of small plates and large plates, good for sharing, the food was delicious and matched well with our drinks. Don’t miss this restaurant if you happen to...

Amazing spot for vegan dishes! Best we found in our stay in South Korea and well worth the visit.

The eggplant dish is already vegan, and the chef was willing to make a couple of other dishes vegan for us.

We went with the Black Pepper dish with rice noodles and asparagus, and replaced the beef with tofu. It was the chef’s first time doing it with tofu and it was amazing.

Highly recommend this place. You won’t find out that there are vegan options by looking at the menu but if you stop in and ask they’ll accommodate. It was the best! The flavours and textures were...
