Solsot is a popular chain restaurant in Korea. We visited their Ikseon branch. It was a comforting pot rice on a chilly snowy day in Seoul, surrounded by the historical atmosphere at Ikseondong Hanoi Village. They also treated us Yakult to finish off the meal. *Steak Hot Pot Rice 스테이크솥밥** *Fresh Water Eel Hot Pot Rice 민물장어솥밥 The stainless steel bowl not only adds a unique presentation but also keeps the dish warm throughout the meal. The steak rice itself tasted fantastic with crispy scotched rice and flavorful tender meat. A tiny bit of the teriyaki sauce enhanced the flavor of the beef. Highly recommend getting the steak one — it completely stole the show. Instructions of eating pot rice: 1. Mix the steak, toppings and rice in the pot and transfer it to the plate 2. Add a little bit of steak sauce and mix. 3. Pour the tea into the pot with scorched rice, then close the lid to make scorched rice soup. **For the eel pot rice, you don’t have to mix the whole thing. Just pour the broth when you nearly finish, pour the soup and close the lid to let it boil. It was fun to enjoy the pot rice in two different ways. Yet we all preferred not adding the soup, because the broth lacked flavors and tasted bland.

Went there as a tourist, reached around 215 and take note that they are closed for lunch break at 3-5pm. You have to self service order from the system outside the entrance and get your number. Since this is a viral spot, expect a long q and the system has only korean language so you play your translation game. We are travelling 5 of us, 4 of us done order then system not allow to order anything at 245pm due to last call for break. Why we did not place order togwther as a group because this shop is tiny and you expect to seat separately. After some shouting treatment from the waitress , she allow my friend to add order as long as seat separately. Food was oke, steak rice in hotpot. Oke la first time try eat the leftover rice with the soup. The waitresses came to rushingly collect the soup bottle from us but we are not done yet, so she poured it in my stonepot for me until it spilled some on my phone too (very good) . Done eat we just left. Nothing fancy for me. You can get better maybe other ajumma place.

I‘ve been wanting to try Solsot for quite some time already and I‘ve made it happen during my recent trip. Overall the rice pot concept is nice, really well made. My partner had the Cheese Dakgalbi Sotbap and I had the Abalone Sotbap. Really good side dishes as well as taste overall. The negative thing I would say is service - it‘s probably the language barrier from the server. When we sat down, there was no instructions on how to eat the Solsot (they forgot to put it in our table) and so the instructions he gave was to put the soup in the rice pot - and he didn‘t specify when. So we‘ve put in the soup and a few minutes later the waiter came to our table and started saying we‘re wrong and we are not doing it properly. It left us extremely confused because he also seemed annoyed about it. Despite that, we do think the food was good. It‘s just that the experience was ruined for us.

We have felt mistreated, so I really don't recommend coming here. Sexist, and possibly racist. One man from the staff was very very rude. Me and my friends entered a bit before 20.20, we felt that he was being pressuring us to order, as we had to order before 20.30. He said this twice to us, especially to my friends who were women. We ordered before that, and the waiter took the menu from my friend that was ordering before finishing the sentence of ordering. He then said to us twice that the restaurant closes at 21.00, that we have to finish before. The other teams on the restaurant (not foreigners) were not told anything and were not pressured (one of those teams left 1 minute before us, and we all left at 21.00, when it closes). They were laughing in the kitchen and it was obvious. As a side note, there were other teams in the restaurant and they all got yagult as service after paying, but of course they didn't...
