Tim Ho Wan isn't your average dim sum place; it's actually known as the 'world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.' I believe it originated from Hong Kong.
My wife and I are both dim sum aficionados, so trying out Tim Ho Wan was a no-brainer. We ordered many dishes, including the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Shrimp Rice Rolls, Shrimp Dumplings, and Fried Beancurd Skin with Shrimp. Every item was top-notch, but those BBQ Pork Buns could easily stand alone as a Michelin-worthy dish. They were that good.
We made a reservation for 11:30a and surprisingly found a lot of empty tables. Still, I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine-in; better safe than sorry, right?
As for the service, don't expect much interaction. The focus here is clearly on delivering excellent food, and in that regard, they succeed remarkably. While it would be nice to have more attentive service, the quality of the food more than makes up for it.
Would I come back? Absolutely. Esp if I find myself in Seoul again (prob next year). This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates...

If we talk about the taste, yes, the Hong Kong is the best because it’s the original one. However, taste in Korea is better than in Thailand and Singapore.
I visit here in Saturday evening. I have to wait about 1 hour, but it’s ok, I understand because it has opened for 2 weeks and many local people want to try.
It’s located opposite the Seven Luck Casino and Coex department store. In between Samseong Jungang Station and Bongeunsa Station. If you drive, parking is available.
The restaurant here is bigger and cleaner than in Hong Kong.
Although there are so many customers, foods are delivered so fast.
Don’t miss menu is Baked BBQ...
Read moreVery disappointed with this restaurant. Our table for 5 was right by to the kitchen door entrance, showing a huge trash bag, and the area smells like an old garbage dirty mop floor. The pot of tea was luke warm, as well as the the bok choy dish and fried pork fried rice. Even though most of the dishes were ok, we just can not get over the smell. If you go here, DO NOT SIT IN THE BACK BY THE KITCHEN DOOR 🥴 To the manager at this restaurant, you need to be more aware of the smell by the kitchen area, as well as the food temperature for each dish. Most dim sum dishes should be piping hot. Tea as well. Yes, the dishes are out quickly, but they are luke warm. Need to talk to your people in...
