Unsatisfactory for the price. The food varied between bland and grim. The first course was a slimy cold prawn ‘cooked’ in lime and floating in some lukewarm brown sauce. It looked like food poisoning on a plate. I struggled through one mouthful, but was so repulsed I left the rest.
The next course was a block of caramelised pig fat, which was again lukewarm and gelatinous, but the best course of the night, against the extremely low bar set by the evening.
After that came some sprouts stuffed with mushroom or something, which tasted like ....sprouts. After this three cubes of white fish, which tasted extremely drab. Then came some mini lamb cutlets which again were cool and underseasoned and had virtually no flavour.
We didn’t stay further, leaving before the meal was complete. 260 euros down.
This brings me to the service. Each course took 25 -30 minutes to arrive! It was beyond tedious, waiting 25 minutes, getting two sprouts, then waiting another 25 minutes for three fish cubes. It took 30 minutes for us to even be offered bread! We went with a toddler, and he was bored out of his mind. They made no accomodation for him. There was no plate for him, so we sat in his bread crumbs all night.
Even in my local Indian they’ll sweep away poppadom crumbs! We sat in piles of bread crumbs for 5 courses, I.e 2:30 hours. I could have swept them off the table, but I was curious how long they would go unattended. For 260 euros, this is just pathetic service. Our toddler was offered no food and had no plate the entire evening.
My advice is do not bother. The food is extremely disappointing. The service is glacial and impersonal. This is an enormous...
Read moreThanks for the amazing evening! We chose the gastronomic menu with wine pairing.
We particularly liked the oyster dish and the dish with cherne. Also the dessert as pasta carbonara stood out to us! It is for sure the most surprising dessert I've had so far in a tasting menu, thanks for that Lily!
With regards to the wine pairing, we feel like the explanation of the wines could have been longer. Also we think the combination of the sherry and the scallop, and the pairing of the yoghurt cheese/mushrooms with the red wine could have been better. Both great wines, but we feel like other wines would have been a better match.
Another great thing to mentoin was the time between courses. In our opinion the overall flow was very natural and a nice experience.
Thanks again for the evening! Next time when we're in Tenerife we'll...
Read moreI recently dined at La Cupula with high hopes for their vegan gastronomic menu, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. The menu was a letdown from start to finish. None of the dishes were particularly enjoyable, and several were outright unappetizing as the Osmotized Banana with Green Peppercorns (this one was truly bizarre) or the Almond Royale
I left the restaurant feeling deeply unsatisfied. Not a single dish stood out as memorable or delicious. Even the desserts, which I had hoped would redeem the meal, were mediocre at best.
If you're considering La Cupula solely for their vegan gastronomic menu, I would not recommend it. Unfortunately, based on my experience, it seems the kitchen isn't quite prepared to offer a satisfying vegan...
