I love Sip & Wonder, I love everything about it from the Decor to Darwin, however I did have a very disappointing day on Sunday. My daughter (who is a regular visiter there) & I planned for a breakfast together. Only one member of staff on duty which was clearly not enough & we were ignored & overlooked to other customers who had arrived later. We sadly decided to leave after 40 mins which was very disappointing as we were so looking forward to the experience. I have noticed looking at similar reviews that this seems to happen alot.
REPLY I understand the situation but have also been a waitress for many years and know the correct way to serve customers. I also believe you have forgotten that both your family's income and your staffs' wages come from your clients, both tourists and regulars, and that, as you have pointed out, this is obviously a difficult situation where EVERYONE is low on cash and struggling, and I, personally, prefer to spend it at my favourite local or family-run businesses rather than chains or those I consider deserve it more. However, I believe that waiting over an hour for toast and coffee is extremely excessive, no matter how good your food and drinks are, as we waited 40 minutes before we left, but if we had stayed and ordered we would have been there another hour at least. I'd like to inform you that I was one of those "2 customers walking by" when only take away was available, but I can assure you that after receiving an overly long response from someone who obviously can't handle criticism, that I will be taking my friends and family elsewhere where we will be...
Read moreVibe is quite nice although the food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the full English breakfast and I’m pretty sure the bacon and the sausages were pre cooked and are heated up per order because they were dry like two day old Louisiana biscuits. The toasted bread was stone cold, with emphasis on the ‘stone’ because my gums hurt after eating half of one. Also the tomato was pre cooked and heated because the skin was shrivelled, a tell tale sign of it being cooked hours before. Finally the eggs were hard and you can tell they were placed under a heat lamp or in an oven too long and I had previously asked for runny eggs. These eggs couldn’t run anywhere. Disappointing and substandard. I don’t usually write too many reviews but only when I feel it’s warranted. Let it be known, if you’re questioning who am I to write such a scathing review? I am well travelled and hold over ten years in the hospitality and luxury industry and have been to all manners of establishments, some of lesser ilk than this place which served outstanding food. My wife nor my son enjoyed their...
Read moreWhile on holiday in Alicante, I visited the Sip and Wonder Café on Carrer Poeta Campos Vasallo, near the market. What a brilliant place! Very unusual for Alicante, the decor is slightly quirky (in a good way) , with a modern, artistic and creative feel. You instantly feel welcome as you come in, there are sofas, armchairs, a 'homely' atmosphere, and Darwin the friendly dog who will happily greet you and keep you company. A place to meet your friends (and bring your dog). The coffee is excellent, there is a large range to choose from, and the food the best I have eaten in Alicante. The best ingredients are used, I think locally sourced, making a simple tomato salad or a bruschetta a revelation, and the sourdough bread something to write home about. There is a great choice of dishes for vegetarians and vegans, not so easy to find in Alicante, so for me that's definitely a bonus. We would definitely go back, and highly recommend...
