Iâve been in Tenerife for about two weeks now with my friends. The four of us decided to have dinner tonight, as itâs our last night, and we chose to go to Sal Fina. Overall, the atmosphere was decent, and the waiters were polite to us, so no complaints there. We all decided to start with a cheese plate and then went for the burgers.
The cheese was really tasty, so we finished it quickly while waiting for our burgers. I donât have any pictures because the burgers looked exactly like they do in all the photos here, but let me tell you, they are -- bad. I got the Cabronazo which was apparently praised.
Weâre all fans of burgers and have tried a lot of them before, but these were huge to the point that thereâs no way to eat them without them falling apart on your plate. That wasnât the main issue, even though having to take it apart to eat isn't the best dining experience... but the meat... was mediocre and tasteless. They put a slice of solid cheese on top that we all disliked because it just tasted off and cold and hard, like something was wrong with it. The ingredients didnât feel fresh, and you could taste the oil everywhere and the caramelised onions? Tasted more like sour wet onions and just really bad (and I love onions btw). The wedge fries that came with them tasted like they had been boiled in water.
Weâve been to tons of restaurants in Tenerife during our stay, as we really enjoy good food and I think we have a strong opinion on this subject, and to be honest we really love what we've eaten so far (with a few exceptions).
I rarely leave reviews, but after taking a couple of bites, I just couldnât continue eating it. The waiter asked if I liked it, I said no, and the rest of us agreed (each of us to various degrees as one of us liked it to some degree - we got different burgers). He just left, not caring. Why did he even ask? Is blank feedback what you what you want to hear?
Honestly, I wouldnât have written this review if they had simply said, âOkay, you donât need to pay for this; itâs clear something is wrong, you don't order a burger and leave the entire thing in the plate.â which is exactly what happened at a previous Italian restaurant when I gave them feedback, and they came back saying there was indeed something off and I ordered something else and it was delicious, and we even came back there twice wanting to try other things! Simply because they cared.
Here, they just didn't care about us tonight, which is unfortunate, because you never know who might leave a review.
I havenât tried the other dishes, so I canât comment on those, likely to be good since the Entree was, but my overall recommendation is to stay far away from the burgers. Unfortunately, they make up almost half the menu here. I wouldnât even be so upset if they had just acknowledged the issue and said, âItâs only 13 euros, donât worry about it, just pick something else." instead I left hungry and upset. I would have been very thankful and probably ordered something else like pasta.
Eventually, we just ended up leaving without even ordering dessert or anything else and half or more of the food on the plate. Wasteful...
Read moreWe have been dining at Sal Fina since it first opened in 2019, and after dozens of visits, including groups of up to eight people, I can confidently say this is one of the finest restaurants not only in Tenerife but anywhere weâve traveled. Every single experience here has been flawlessâa perfect blend of exceptional food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home.
The menu is consistently outstanding, with each dish prepared to absolute perfection. I had a very bad experience, I just paid the bill and walked no discussion, just walked.
I was highly disappointed with my experience at Sal Fina. To begin with, we were made to wait by our table for nearly 10 minutes while the staff attended to other customers, stating that they were âchanging table mates.â This was not a professional start.
I ordered grilled salmon, which is one of my favorite dishes and something I regularly enjoy during my travels. However, what was served to me was not grilled salmon â it appeared to be a boiled or fried white fish that bore no resemblance to any salmon Iâve ever had. It was completely unrecognizable in both taste and presentation.
My wife ordered a local fish dish, which was extremely bland and lacked any distinctive flavor. Additionally, I noticed that the guests at the next table left most of their food untouched, which further reflects the poor quality of the meals being served.
As someone who travels frequently and enjoys exploring various cuisines, I can confidently say this was one of the worst dining experiences Iâve ever had. Despite the disappointment, I quietly paid the bill and left without...
