Our experience at the restaurant was reasonable, with some positive aspects and others that could be improved. The atmosphere is simple but pleasant, with the air conditioning working very well and making the moment more comfortable.
The service was friendly and attentive. However, the waiter insisted that we order one dish per person due to the discount from The Fork. We already knew the portions were generous and preferred to order 4 dishes for 5 people, but we had to order 5, which resulted in a lot of leftover food. We understand it’s the restaurant’s policy, and with the discount it was still worth it in the end, but a bit more flexibility would have been appreciated.
As for the food: the portions were indeed generous, but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. We ordered a black rice paella that came with just the rice and only mussels on top. We missed the variety of seafood mixed into the rice, as is usually the case in other restaurants.
Overall, it was an okay experience, with kind service and a comfortable setting, but there’s room for improvement in the flavor and composition...
Read moreEvery time I’m in Barcelona, I make a point to stop by Restaurant Pitarra, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. It’s one of those places that manages to stay true to its roots while still feeling fresh and welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy, with old-school charm and a theatrical flair that nods to its literary namesake. It’s the kind of spot where you can settle in for a slow, relaxed meal and really enjoy the experience. The food is classic Catalan, prepared with obvious care and quality ingredients. While everything on the menu looked tempting, I went with a few house specialties and was more than satisfied. The portions are generous, and the flavors feel homemade—rich, balanced, and comforting. The staff were warm and attentive, happy to make recommendations and take the time to explain the dishes. It’s clear they know and love what they’re serving. If you’re after an authentic local meal in the city center but want to avoid the usual tourist traps, Pitarra is a great choice. Great food, lovely setting, and consistently good service. I’ll definitely keep...

The food was generous in size but average in taste. For example, the black rice paella had just two mussels on top, lacking the usual seafood mix.
Overall, a comfortable spot with kind staff, but the food could be more flavorful and better presented and be aware that if coming through The Fork you need to order at least 1...
