The menu at Petit Tapas is thoughtfully curated, presenting a delightful array of tapas and ‘platillos’ (small plates) designed for sharing. Read moreThis was a lovely spot!
Initially when confirming my reservation, I received a text from Sensi asking if I minded moving my table 15 minutes which was no problem. I was therefore confused when arriving and went into Sensi thinking maybe the restaurant had had a change of name. We waited in Sensi and we were completely ignored in a very small space despite me asking the girl at the bar about our reservation as it didn’t seem they had space she told me to wait by the door. Another awkward 10 minutes later a waitress came and stated we had actually booked next door part of the same group of restaurants . This meant we were 15 minutes late for our reservation despite being initially early and the kitchen was almost closing. Just a word of warning they may message from Sensi but petit tapas is next door !
Once we were in petit tapas the vibe was great ! The waiters were friendly and helpful.
For food we had
The oxtail croquettes (you have to ! ) these had delicious crunch on the outside and great filling
The catch of the day which was a bream with purreed veg . I think this was my favourite and if you like fish it was light and delicate with some depth from the puree
The lamb was melt in the mouth and lovely and for meat eaters would recommend
The pork loin was good with a heavy rich gravy and sweet potato ( quite big for a tapas portion )
Pasta in a white sauce which is unusual for tapas and I would say was the weakest dish but still very nice.
The ambience is good and the food was priced well for the quality. I...
Read moreStarting with the greats: Food was amazing. 5/5. Not sure who came up with the combinations for the prawn and seabass tapas, but they were perfection.
The not so greats? Service left much to be desired. The first night, we had stumbled upon the restaurant, quickly looked at reviews, and decided to try it. We stood outside, looked in - showing interest, but no, refused to serve us. Okay, fine. We step in, ask for a table, and was succinctly greeted with "reservation only". Fair. We come a few days after with a reservation, but was greeted similarly - left us standing outside, and only entertained when we went in ourselves to inform them of the reservation.
A tall man led us to our table, and he's the only one deserving of 5 stars for service. The young woman who served us throughout the night was rather frazzled, yet still came off as arrogant. My mom doesn't speak English as her first language - she struggles with accents, and people struggle with hers. At one point, she asks for a white wine, but was cut off with "I'll give you the menu and you choose". My mom doesn't catch what she says, and when giving her a confused look, got a very frustrated repetition of the statement.
Now, this must've been the third or fourth interaction with the waitress that night, and each time she showed equal parts distaste and impatience towards my mom.
Overall, tad disappointed with the place. I believe restaurants have equal duty towards food and service - and though the food was an experience, the...
