My husband and I dined here tonight. It was serendipitous as we were walking along just browsing local restaurants and happened to like the menu offerings - it was about 10:30 pm and no one was having dinner there except for us. What a special experience - we ordered the asparagus ravioli, the octopus and the sole. Our waitress advised us on the wine and started us out with an appetizer that consisted of a crisp toast topped with a cheese mousse (tasted like goat cheese) & nuts. Absolutely devine! As each order arrived, we were just floored with the attention to detail on presentation, the flavors & the ambiance of this place - we didn't understand why no one else was dining there. After dinner, a coffee and apple pie (a spin off the traditional serving) topped off the taste buds and then a digestive. Needless to say, we felt like royalty and enjoyed the whole experience. We recommend this place as a fine dining restaurant and would definitely dine here...
Read moreHands down-a 10. We wanted to hit a Michelin star place while we were in Barcelona that was not too far from where we were staying. We chose this place which we did not know was in a small hotel in the Gothic Quarter. We love French food and this is a fusion place so we chose this. We arrived to see the place empty which caused us pause. I was happy that we ignored that. Jean was our hostess-server and was a true professional. The food was one of the finer meals that I have eaten in my time (NYC, Vegas, Miami, London, Philadelphia, Boston). We had the Iberian ham and tomato bread app and a salad. My fiancé ordered the sole which was fileted table side. We ordered 2 bottles of Catalonian red. I ordered the filet with foie gras. I actually sat and deliberated as to whether I should order a 2nd filet. A true gem and must visit when...
Read moreWe ate here last night. We were provided a nice amuse bouche of salmon and asparagus atop toasted multi-grain toast. Our appetizer of seven large prawns was excellent. Unfortunately, my wife's Iberian pork was overcooked and tough, though the roasted pineapple was good; and my supposed filet of ox, while cooked medium rare as requested, had the texture of onglet (hanger steak) with none of the flavor. The decent wine list is priced about 50% higher than other restaurants near the cathedral. We had made a reservation for 8pm on-line. We were the only diners present from then until we left, well after 9:30. We went elsewhere for dessert, coffee, and after-dinner drinks. I will admit that I am prejudiced against restaurants in hotels, but even with that acknowledgement, this was by far the worst meal of our trip. Not...
