Bar La Principal — Restaurant in Barcelona

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Barcelona. Papi, the owner and his passion for this place creates a tapestry of history, love, and authentic Catalan experience. Come here in the early morning to see construction workers and bus drivers pop in for a quick morning bocadillo fix, grandma with her doggy sipping on orange juice reading that mornings newspaper. At noon, there will be a couple in their 60s who only came in for a few glasses of cava. And all kinds of seniors and occasional tourists circling in and out for a cortado, a croissant, or a take away.

Everything here feels historical, meaningful, and soo authentic.

And yes Papi’s omlete is worth it, it’s the best omlete in the city. The croquettes are also outstanding and definitely have some fresh squeezed orange juice.

They have WiFi, but chill, bring a book or just breathe...

Came to Bar La Principal on our final night and we were absolutely blown away!

Diego, our waiter, was fantastic! Despite us being English and not knowing much Spanish, he was really accommodating. He brought us an English menu, after seeing us struggle to translate. He also conversed with us and made us feel like locals. A truly great waiter.

The food was absolutely incredible, we ordered from the tapas section. We had the 2 pepper omelette, pork skewers, mushrooms, chorizo, squid, and croquettes with ham. All were absolutely amazing in taste. We had room for desert too, we had the almond cake and the creme Catalan, which were fantastic.

Another plus point was the price, it was really well priced considering all we had to eat and drink. With the whole bill coming in at less than we expected for the quality!

Their Spanish omelette is absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked with a delightful balance of flavors that truly represents the best of traditional Spanish cuisine.

What really stood out was their kindness and accommodation for my sister, who has several food restrictions. The staff went above and beyond to ensure she had a delicious and safe meal, making thoughtful adjustments without any fuss. Their attentiveness and genuine care made our visit even more enjoyable.
