Otra opción de postre made in Catalunya: el tradicional mel i mató.

Loved this place and definitely recommend.

We went on a Monday night at 7:00pm opening time. They were fully booked with reservations but since we got there when it open we could spend about an hour and a half for food.

The waiters were very nice and attentive. And the food was absolutely amazing! They menu included a little sign next to each dish to note which were authentic / from the Catalan area.

Esqueixada (shredded cod, tomato and olive salad): this was just ok for us. Something new to try.

Home-made cannelloni: absolutely spectacular! Reminded me of enchiladas with a big noodle. But so delicious. Recommend this to try for sure!

Fricandeau of veal with wild mushrooms: again, absolutely delicious! The meat was so tender and peeled apart with a fork and the sauce was a great taste, left you wanting more.

Desserts - cream Catalana: very good. Similar to that of a creme brûlée was very good and highly recommend.

Flan with rum: so fun, they set the rum on fire and kept pouring the hot rum on top of the flan to melt the sugar. So good and recommend this one as well!

Side note - we got lucky coming in and them having a table for us at opening time but recommend booking...

We made a reservation here for our last night in Barcelona. We were looking for a traditional Catalonian meal to end our trip. The atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff were all delightful. They were incredibly professional, attentive, and very willing to explain the menu! I love that the menu specifically marks traditional Catalonian dishes too.

The food was executed well, and the kitchen timed everything perfectly. Everything came out piping hot. We ordered the soup of the day, which seemed to be something pork based with some vegetables and meats. This was a warm hug in a bowl. Absolutely our favorite dish of the meal. Incredibly homey. The escargot flavor was wonderful, but the texture wasn't what we're both familiar with based on previous escargot experiences. For our main dishes, we ordered the duck and monkfish (with garlic and chili). The duck was very tender, perfectly cooked, however the sauce leaned a little sweet for our liking. The monkfish, again, was perfectly cooked, but was just a bit plain for our liking. We finished the meal with a Catalan cream. We don't know what "good" Catalan cream is, but this...

It is a very well hidden heaven for gourmet people. Tucked away in a maze of ancient and cobbled narrow alleys, despite the dodgy traits of the surrounding area, here is Ca l’Estevet. My journey here happened with a pinch of luck as apparently no seats were left (although many looked empty). The owner, however, made the trick and a spare table was prepared. I 100% have nothing to complain of: the house’s olives with some bread keep you busy as you wait a very brief wait. The service runs fast and both quality and presentation do speak of authentic earthy food, recipes which do not belong to fancy neon-lit shining trendy restaurants, but to the most unaltered tradition of Spanish cuisine. The meat was tender and saucy, the mixed salad had a distinctive Mediterranean taste (or just I was already in awe 🫢). Can you say no to a traditional Catalan cream then? Surely not! And coffee of course, with “on the house” biscuits. What else… oh yeah, Mark Zuckerberg ate here too (swipe through all the pics). Was a delicious experience, surely not to be missed.
