AMAZING!!! During my visit to Barcelona, I had the pleasure of dining at Can Ramonet, a hidden gem in the heart of the city. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the cozy, traditional ambiance that exuded warmth and authenticity. The culinary experience was nothing short of spectacular. We indulged in a variety of dishes, each more delightful than the last. The paella was a standout, brimming with fresh seafood and bursting with rich flavors. The mussels were succulent and perfectly seasoned, while the bombas offered a delicious, crispy exterior with a savory filling. The Fideuà, a lesser-known but equally exquisite dish, was a delightful twist with its delicate noodles absorbing the robust flavors of the broth. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service provided by our server, Robin. Hailing from Bengal, Robin was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. His recommendations were spot-on, and his warm hospitality made us feel right at home. It was the best service we had encountered in Barcelona, adding a personal touch that made our meal memorable. Can Ramonet is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Catalan cuisine in a welcoming setting. With its outstanding food and impeccable service, it’s a dining experience that I will cherish and highly recommend to others.

This is a great place to stop and get some tapas if you're on the way to La playa, around the area, or on your way back from the beach and want to get something a little more substantial. I read that Can Ramonet had some great paella on some random site on the Internet and was very intrigued. My wife and I were planning a vacation that included a few days in Barcelona and I threw this place on the list because I had a good feeling. That intuition turned out to be right! After a morning spent walking around the zoo, this place hit the spot! We sat outside in a shaded outdoor seating area with a cool breeze blowing through. We ordered some shrimp cooked in garlic olive oil (gambas con ajillo) to start and they were fantastic. This dish appeared to be raw shrimp that get cooked in olive oil that was boiling so 1) be careful and 2) if you have reservations about raw shrimp make sure to toss those jokers around in the hot oil. Very worth any extra work you have to put in. We also got the paella marinera (seafood paella) and it was very good! Shrimp, mussels, clams, and bay scallops accompanied the rice which was seasoned and cooked very well. We got a bottle of abariño to wash it all down. Our server was fun and attentive. He also took our picture AND let us get behind the bar to get one with wine barrels!

The food is okay, though not quite living up to all its praise. We ordered a seafood paella, since we've seen very good reviews for it, as well as a Ramonet bomb. The bomb was decent. The issues started with the paella-- the rice was actually fairly good. However, the shrimp wasn't fresh - was far from it, actually - and neither were the mussels. That ended up spoiling the taste of the rest of it, especially for my younger sister, who's very sensitive to the freshness of seafood. The real problem, though, is with the service, which was absolutely terrible. We initially booked a reservation for outside, on account for how hot it was that afternoon; however, the temperature dropped sharply in the evening, and we wanted to see if we could switch to eating inside. We were met with a flat rejection and told the inside was full. (There were several empty tables inside, both downstairs and upstairs, which were still empty when I passed through the inside half an hour later.) The waiter was very rude -- we asked him to leave a menu on the table so that we could possibly order more later, and he was hardly polite in his refusal. Further, we only ordered two items, the paella and the Ramonet bomb, and he forgot to write down half our order--the Bomb was only brought out after we questioned where it was and when it would be ready. The paella itself also took quite a long time to arrive. I rarely feel strongly enough about something to leave a review, much less a negative one. However, in the case of Can Ramonet, I'd suggest finding a better place to try paella. You're better off spending your money elsewhere.

Ate there tonight and was just okay for me. The venue itself is very nice, decent enough location walking distance boardwalk. Servers and staff were friendly and provided excellent service although some do not know English. Ordered 3 of the full sized Tapas dishes, bread and beer for 2. It was just enough food and came in a reasonable amount of time. The garlic shrimp was served sizzling was was delicious, although a smaller portion that I would have hoped. The fried mixed fish was okay - a bit salty, nothing special. It was a good sized portion and the heads were still on so fun meal. The last dish was the small clams "sailor style" (served in a tomato salsa sauce). The clams were fresh and good quality, but were very small and the portion itself was again smaller than I had hoped. The tomato salsa sauce was very good. Not a terrible experience by any means and nothing really went "wrong" per say, but still for over 50 euros for 3 plates, none of them really blew me away. I'd recommend the garlic shrimp out of the three dishes we tried. I have heard the rice plates and fresh fish are very nice. Beer and liquor selections are limited, but fairly priced. Wine list seemed pretty exhaustive. Pictures include the brick exterior of the main building, a few pieces of the fried fish with the heads (don't worry, this plate is fairly large, picture was taken after most of it was eaten) and the full sized little clam dish.

Congratulations, you have arrived at the WORST experience at Barcelona! First off, the service may be, dare I say, aggressive and unwelcoming? We requested for a table outside, seeing there are empty tables and it was quite warm. Staff said no, saying "we only serve tables of 2 inside." (Shrugging as there were 2 non-Asian couples sitting outside) I made a comment to my friend that it was going to be (insert swear word) warm inside in English, and the staff proceeded to ask me whether I had an opinion with him. Excellent service indeed. Secondly, the dishes were not great. The toast and bread were stale (microwaved) and the seafood were way too salty. One positive was that the seafood was fresh and the croquettes were alright. Thirdly, the bill was astoundingly sad, coming at €40+ per person for 2 tapas and 1 seafood platter, 1 sangria and 1 non-alcoholic drink. We were served bottled water and charged for it when we requested tap water, so order water with this in mind. Overall, you can get way better food for a way more affordable price tag elsewhere. One of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona, unfortunately it continues to exist. Stay for potentially racially charged microaggressions, leave for everything else!

So good my 14 year old son wanted to go back for our final meal of our vacation. My wife came accross based on a recommendation for great fideua. We lucked out when we walked up and were immediately seated because shortly after the place was packed. There is alot of outdoor seating as well as indoors. We were able to enjoy both (due to two different visits) and I can say both were amazing. Inside offers a more traditional old country feel while outdoors offers the fresh air with a cool spot in a courtyard with people walking by. We started with Vermut and pan con tamate and Can Romanet bomb (one of the best bomba's we had while in Barcelona) and then it was off to the fideua. MMMMMMM, it was amazing. They will only allow you to purchase the dish for two people. There are no single orders. This was frustrating at first but had it not been this way we would have never shared this dish and would have missed out. Finally it was dessert time. We ended the night with a cookie/ biscotti type of dish with a cognac (I think). You might not notice it if sitting outdoors but they have their own wines in barrels behind the bar inside. I tried a few and liked them but I do not remember seeing them on the menu.
