The food is okay, though not quite living up to all its praise. We ordered a seafood paella, since we've seen very good reviews for it, as well as a Ramonet bomb. The bomb was decent. The issues started with the paella-- the rice was actually fairly good. However, the shrimp wasn't fresh - was far from it, actually - and neither were the mussels. That ended up spoiling the taste of the rest of it, especially for my younger sister, who's very sensitive to the freshness of seafood.
The real problem, though, is with the service, which was absolutely terrible. We initially booked a reservation for outside, on account for how hot it was that afternoon; however, the temperature dropped sharply in the evening, and we wanted to see if we could switch to eating inside. We were met with a flat rejection and told the inside was full. (There were several empty tables inside, both downstairs and upstairs, which were still empty when I passed through the inside half an hour later.) The waiter was very rude -- we asked him to leave a menu on the table so that we could possibly order more later, and he was hardly polite in his refusal. Further, we only ordered two items, the paella and the Ramonet bomb, and he forgot to write down half our order--the Bomb was only brought out after we questioned where it was and when it would be ready. The paella itself also took quite a long time to arrive.
I rarely feel strongly enough about something to leave a review, much less a negative one. However, in the case of Can Ramonet, I'd suggest finding a better place to try paella. You're better off spending your...
Read moreAte there tonight and was just okay for me. The venue itself is very nice, decent enough location walking distance boardwalk. Servers and staff were friendly and provided excellent service although some do not know English. Ordered 3 of the full sized Tapas dishes, bread and beer for 2. It was just enough food and came in a reasonable amount of time. The garlic shrimp was served sizzling was was delicious, although a smaller portion that I would have hoped. The fried mixed fish was okay - a bit salty, nothing special. It was a good sized portion and the heads were still on so fun meal. The last dish was the small clams "sailor style" (served in a tomato salsa sauce). The clams were fresh and good quality, but were very small and the portion itself was again smaller than I had hoped. The tomato salsa sauce was very good. Not a terrible experience by any means and nothing really went "wrong" per say, but still for over 50 euros for 3 plates, none of them really blew me away. I'd recommend the garlic shrimp out of the three dishes we tried. I have heard the rice plates and fresh fish are very nice. Beer and liquor selections are limited, but fairly priced. Wine list seemed pretty exhaustive. Pictures include the brick exterior of the main building, a few pieces of the fried fish with the heads (don't worry, this plate is fairly large, picture was taken after most of it was eaten) and the full sized...
Read moreI haven’t been treated so unfairly by a restaurant in my life. If you sort reviews by lowest and you’ll see many similar experiences. I waited ten min to be seated and noticed other people were just seating themselves. I asked at the bar if I should take a seat or wait (in my best Spanish), he waved at me abrasive/rude for me to go outside. I sat my self at a two person table, as I noticed another single diner had. There were a lot of spare tables as I arrived on time for opening. The server gave 2x tables that arrived after me their menus. There was only one server so just assumed he was busy and would get to me eventually. I was left for 20 minutes before the server came up to me telling me to leave. I asked if he meant for me to go inside and he said angrily “no place for one person adios”. I politely asked him what he meant and he very rudely and aggressively waved me off saying “adios” multiple times, in front of the other diners. I stood there a bit stunned and speechless he proceeded mockingly telling me that I can’t have a table and to leave. If you don’t want solo diners (or whatever it is that bothered you about me) next time just tell the person that you are fully booked, you don’t have to humiliate them and waste their time.
I ended up at Canete (20 min walk) which was incredible, check their reviews! Their food and the people...
