CAN RIBES — Restaurant in Barcelona

We were visiting Barcelona and returned from a tour at the Nord Bus Station, looking for a nearby place for dinner. We chose Can Ribes based on its location, menu, and great reviews, and we’re glad we did. The restaurant sits right across from the taxi line at the station on a wide street. It’s bright, spotless, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was attentive, pleasant, and efficient without feeling rushed. We started with the Iberian ham appetizer, which was thinly sliced and served with crackers—authentic and delicious. Our carne paella for two arrived piping hot in its traditional pan, garnished with fresh lemon, and was easily enough to serve three to four people (€33 at our visit). When we asked for the check, we were pleasantly surprised with two complimentary limoncellos—a perfect finish to a great meal. The food felt authentic, well-prepared, and fairly priced. It's a nice little restaurant in a central location. I had the sangria and the sea food paella, both great. The sangria was fruity and aromatic. The paella was pipping hot and full of seafood and flavour! I mean it, there was lots of seafood, in other places they just serve rice with some seafood but not here. Portions were very big too. They also brought some tasty complimentary olives with the drink. José was very kind, he gave me recommendations and he also asked me how was the meal and if I wanted anything else. Sadly, I feel that we were at a different restaurant as it was so disappointing. We took an overseas friend here, to have seafood, as the reviews were so good. We hadn't eaten here before. She ordered the pica pica a salad and bread. The pica pica was very very average, the salad was fresh, but nothing special for the rice. I ordered a rare rib eye steak and received a rare T-Bone, which was tough and chewy. My husband had the pork fillet and he said it was nice.
