Divan Turkish Restaurant — Restaurant in Barcelona

My family thought this restaurant was fine upon first impression when we first arrived, with the only exception being the blatant stares we received from the staff (we are an African-American family). Our family of 4 first ordered only 2 dishes the first round to see what we liked. It was good so after they cleared our table we ordered 2 more dishes; a quesadilla and a Neopolitan pizza. We received our quesadilla in a timely manner and consumed it quickly. As we waited for our pizza, another waitress picked up our empty quesadilla plate. After about 15 min. of waiting we still didn't receive our pizza, and actually observed our waitress taking a pizza back into the kitchen, as if she got our order mixed up with someone else who didn't order the pizza. It almost seemed that she wad trying to avoid us as matter of fact; she started to give off a weird vibe. We ended up having to call her over to ask about the pizza. After we asked if she put in our order for the pizza, she acted like we never asked for a pizza! We just told her to go on and leave it alone and give us our final bill. When we received it, there it was a; a charge for a Neopolitan pizza that we NEVER received. We told her that we never got the pizza and she started to insist that she did ( we should of had them check the kitchen for a disposed pizza that she could have mistakenly brought to another customer) . A fellow male employee came to try to help resolve the situation, as the waitress' english was limited. She told him that she gave us the pizza, and we told him we never received it. We even had the waitress that picked up up our one quesadilla dish confirm that we only had one dish on our table ( as opposed to two) after our second order. It was obvious that the fellow male employee wanted to believe the employee that served us. We even insisted that they view their camera footage, which our waitress explicitly opposed (is that not a red flag??) The male employee proceeded ro say that since the manager wasn't there (on a busy Sunday night??!) they couldn't review the footage. We continued to stand our ground and insist that we didn't order the pizza, and the male employee ultimately resolved the situation and took the pizza off of our bill. Our waitress was frustrated and behaved in an unprofessional manner afterwards, harshly claring our table. When we left the restaurant none of the staff even acknowledged us or bid us a farewell. After that catastrophe my dad speculated that it was possible that she was drinking on the job, as the World Cup Finals were going on and there was was a celebratratory & exciting atmosphere. Was she a pathological liar? Possibly. I suspected that they were racist, but...

Me and my wife visited this place in June and ordered the chicken paella.

This was hands down one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever endured. We waited over 50 minutes for food — despite being the only customers there. Every time we asked, we got the same pathetic excuse: “just a few more minutes.”

The staff were a disgrace. One of them in particular couldn’t have cared less about the delay, and his attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.

Then came the food — if you can even call it that. What they served was an insult. The “paella” was literally brought into the restaurant in a container from somewhere else, dumped onto a plate, and topped with some greasy fried chicken wings. It wasn’t just disappointing — it was a scam. My wife, being far more polite than I could ever be in that moment, gave it a single bite before pushing it aside in disgust. I refused to touch it.

When leaving, I pointed out exactly how appalling the whole experience had been. The staff’s reaction? Blank stares. Not an ounce of accountability, not a shred of care.
