Randomly stumbled upon this bar…design is minimal, which I like but the service and food made this the highlight of my entire trip. I’ve traveled around quite a bit to eat in Michelin starred and highly rated restaurants but genuinely…. finding this place on a random Friday afternoon surpassed the vast majority of the €500 meals I’ve had. The tortilla was better than any I had in San Sebastián…the Artichoke heart with egg yoke and some kind of Jamon broth Is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten…it’s changed my opinion on what it means to travel and eat…by all means plan ahead but leave days to explore. Also the wonderful chef I ended up chatting to across the bar is a hero.

This is an extremely later review, I was there in April, but a really wonderful...

Book and come here...do whatever you need to do...i've been in Europe 3 months, and this is easily the most culinary experience of the trip. One of the great culinary experiences I've had. And I have no idea how it happened. It's as if I put my hand in a bucket of water, and pulled out a whale, who spat out Jonah, who spat out Gordon Ramsay, who was polite and produced his best meal. The owner is surly, but in a completely attractive way. She knows her menu, produced daily and printed by the cash register...brilliant. Each dish was brilliant and slightly challenging and nothing like anything I'd had. Shades of familiarity, sure, but crafted and conceived with culinary skill and regional sensitivity. Just go here, let her order for...

Arrived around 5:30pm and saved a spot at the bar for a friend and I. The vibe is an old traditional Spanish town bar, but with good modern music. There was about 3 tortillas (Spanish omelettes) ready to serve and 3 more being prepared. The server said they’d all be ready to plate around 6:30pm. We tried the “cabrales” (blue cheese) tortilla and el clásico (onion and potato). Both delicious! Apparently the house special is the basque crab tortilla, but there wasn’t any that night, so must go back. For drinks we had a red wine from Mallorca, and a white macabeu local to Catalonia. It got pretty packed, best to make a reservation. Oh, and the cheesecake was amazing. Although a little over priced for tapas,...

I do recommend it for tourists. They are the only ones that will not be able to know that it’s very expensive, with a low quality and ridiculous quantities of food. And even they may have the feeling that they have been in an authentic tapas bar (hint: it is not a tapas bar, it is just a place for you to believe it). I have to admit that the service was very good (only at that moment, then they were quite slow) when they gave us the table next to the kitchen and they changed the clean plates after a cockroach crossed all of them from side to side before hiding in the cracks of the wall.
