I was delighted to discover Elaichi. The menu features a wide variety of Indian dishes, including several I’d never encountered before. I started with the Dahi Bhalla Chaat — a surprisingly refreshing cold appetiser that was the perfect choice for a hot summer evening. For my main, I opted for the Madras with basmati rice and garlic naan. I asked for it to be spicy, and it was spot on — just the right amount of heat to excite the palate without overwhelming the rich, layered flavours. The meat was tender and succulent, and the portion sizes were generous enough to leave me fully satisfied without feeling uncomfortably full.
The only area for improvement would be the atmosphere. The lighting is currently very bright, giving the space a rather clinical feel. Lower, warmer lighting — perhaps with a few candles on the tables — would instantly make it more inviting. Adding some traditional Indian music or even classic Indian pop hits could also help create a more immersive dining experience. This would make the restaurant feel more welcoming, especially as it was empty during my visit.
I’m already looking forward to my next meal here, and with a few tweaks to the ambiance, Elaichi could...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but this visit was shockingly bad. We came here expecting a decent Indian meal in Barcelona, but the food was well below average. The tandoori platter was a mess—while the fish was passable, the chicken was dry to the point of being inedible. No flavor, no moisture, just disappointing.
The biryani was a disaster. Bland, poorly cooked, and completely lacking the depth of flavor you’d expect from even a mediocre biryani. Same with their chicken curry.
But the real kicker? They had the audacity to charge us €4 for a side of onions. Onions. Something that comes complimentary at the every respectable Indian restaurant. There are too many good restaurants in Barcelona to waste time and money here. Skip this place—you’ll thank...
Read moreThe food is absolutely delicious!! I can't express how delightful is the experience of eating it 😂😂 we took the menu that they recommended and said it is enough for 2 people but it is in fact way too much but we can take it home so there's no food wasted! And the drink they recommended me is also very tasty (mango and yogurt)! We came right as it opened so we were the only ones there! It is very beautiful and there is air conditioning and that makes it a little cold so definitely bring something to cover up while in there like a scarf. There is a public transportation very close to the restaurant so it's very comfortable to go with it instead of a car!
The people are lovely and so is the place!...
