Decided to dine here because it was so close to where I'm staying and the menu looked intriguing online. The atmosphere was great. Super cozy and inviting, also who ever had the aux this night was playing some good ass music (Etta James was played and I felt like she was singing to me personally). Anyway, I had the stuffed bell peppers with goat cheese to start which were absolutely stellar. Nice acidic balance with a touch of sweetness which was from the rose jam (not too overpowering at all). Next the burrata salad (I just like cheese okay, don't judge), what made it for me was the capers and confit pepper that came with it which I could eat everyday for a week. For my main, I got the dish of the month, which was basically a bowl of polenta (I think), that came with shiitake mushrooms, iberian ham, eggs, and some toast. I forgot what they called it and don't know what to compare it to, but I would also eat it everyday for a week. Additionally had a glass of temp that my server recommended. Medium tannin structure and went well with everything. I came by myself so I definitely over ordered, but it's my first time in Spain, so go big or go home, right? Also, shout out to the staff as well!! It looked like there were only two servers and they were running that place like it was nothing. Super friendly and welcoming
Will definitely be back in the future and have already started recommending it...
Read moreIt’s a gem. I was drawn in by the aesthetic of this place. I had the worst day yesterday between logistics and never ending hold ups so finding this spot was like an oasis in an empty desert! The first woman who sat me was incredible and gave me a lovely drink recommendation. I unfortunately did not catch her name. I did however have the pleasure of meeting Isa next! She was so wonderful to chat with. The first kind person I had met in the last 48 hours. She and her coworker Alberto (who was also making the incredible drinks I was receiving) were also dealing with the WORST table of American boomer tourists. Think of every bad American in Europe stereotype and put them all at one table. Even though they were having to placate that fiasco.. they still had time to ask the chef in back to make me a special little treat on the house! I don’t recall what exactly is all was, but it was this lovely tuna pate on a delicious little cut of baguette! Isa just gave me this out of the kindness of her heart without even knowing how bad of a day it was was having. I really needed that and still appreciate them all so much!! This is a great spot!! Go try it out! But if you’re an obnoxious and embarrassing American.. there’s like 700 others places right around the corner that I think you’ll enjoy much better. Thank you again to all the staff at La Alcobita! I hope I can come...
Read moreUnfortunately we were unable to taste the food or drinks, we chose la Alcobita due to high Google reviews. Upon arrival I thought at first the restaurant looked cosy, very dark lighting and seemed relaxing however when waiting to see staff I notice something go under the beer dispenser directly in front of the main desk as you walk in. We waited around 5-10 minutes to be seated, whilst waiting we saw a huge cockroach crawl across the wall by the artificial flower. My skin crawled and I was in complete shock. My partner noticed it and said out loud ‘whats that? It’s huge, wait is that a cockroach’, we immediately left with still no staff in sight. My partner left a review straight away as we looked via Google and wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this. The restaurant have sadly denied this was their restaurant but I assure you it was. I just have a question to La Alcobita - why would we lie about something we’ve seen? What purpose would that serve us? Anyone considering this restaurant please be mindful and check the standards before eating or drinking. P.S. honesty goes a long way and I’m actually even more appalled they’ve denied it rather than trying to look into it to try and prevent it in the...
