La Chirigota Brazil food — Restaurant in Barcelona

When spending holidays in Barcelona, on the 31st of December, 2021 I was craving for some brazilian food. After a quick search on google and not finding many restaurant open I decided to give a chance to La Chirigota.

But what a deception! Their poor customer service was bad as their overpriced dishes. The Brazilian waiter - who served me while using his cellphone - made me think that I was bothering them for being there somehow. First when, even before welcoming us he claimed that they were not serving their all-you-can-eat barbecue - and I wasn’t even there for it but he never asked what my preferences were for that afternoon. I inquired twice if they were about to close - which could potential explain, but not excuse their behavior however he confirmed that they weren’t going to close during that day. So I kept my order on and waited for my food.

I got chocked when my dish arrived. On their menu says that the ‘combinado’ dish comes with a real picanha steak alongside of rice, beans, vinagrete and casaca chips but what I got instead was a few strips of cold meat strips, oily casava chips and left over beans.

I left the restaurante chocked and wondering how come? I had never been in a Brazilian restaurant were the staff looks (and acts) miserable, unhappy and the food is so tasteless.

If I can give you a piece of advice keep away of this place and look for another option - which I believe Barcelona city has! La Chirigota doesn’t get close to what...

Food is really overpriced.

When asking picanha, you can see it is a cheaper cut: you can recognize picanha by the marked line of fat, which was barely present in the pre-cut - and underweight - portion they served.

It's just not picanha.

A portion of white rice is 4.5€ - same quantity for what you'd get for 1-2€ in a normal place - while the beans are noticeably not fresh.

The platos combinados are mostly rice, so you can fill up and get distracted from the little portion of meat it goes with.

My cocktail (a very basic gin tonic) tasted like the 5€ ones they serve in clubs - except it costed 15€ - and it was hard to mess up, as I asked for Gin Mare that is a less dry gin.

The staff is very defensive of any form of feedback.

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I had in 2+ years in Barcelona.

Once at home I made myself some dinner, as I was still hungry.

I'd pick any other random Brazilian place over this one - there are some kebab places that would leave you more satisfied for their...

No recomiendo a nadie este sitio. El peor restaurante brasileño que he ido en Barcelona. He reservado una mesa para 4, era el día del cumpleaños de mi marido y me dijo que le apetecía comer comida brasileña este día. Ya conocemos a muchos otros restaurantes de Brasil aquí, queríamos probar otro sitio y hemos ido a este. Pero, ha sido una mala experiencia, una decepción. Éramos 3 adultos y 1 niño, hemos pedido 1 menú plato combinado de picaña para el niño que acompañaba: arroz, patata y algunas tiras de picaña ( o eso creo). 2 menús rodízio de picaña y un plato combinado de salmón. El camarero nos trajo los platos que acompañan el menú rodízio, y algunas alitas de pollo , cerdo, y algo parecido a salchichas, que de esas cosas, casi ni tocamos porque las alas de pollo no estaba crujientes y tenia un aspecto muy blanco como medío crudo . La picaña no estaba para tirar cohetes, los frijoles tenía un sabor que no era fresco…enfim, una decepción. Pero lo que más no chocó fue cuando le quisimos dar un trozo de picaña que me tocaba (porque he pagado por un rodízio, puedo comer hasta decir basta), le quería dar un trozo de MI picaña a mi hijo y el camarero nos dijo de muy mala manera y sin ningún corte y empatía que nos iba a cobrar el menú rodízio a mi hijo si le diéramos de esta picaña. No nos podíamos creer en lo que estábamos oyendo! Si me cayó la cara de vergüenza, era la primera vez que llevaba a mi suegra a comer en sítio brasileño, se lleva una muy mala impresión y experiencia. Fue tan feo y de muy mala educación por parte de esta persona, si era mi carne, puedo hacer con ella lo que me da la gana, hasta tirar a los perros si quiero! Para terminar la historia: había sobrado carnes raras y pollos medio crudos y pensamos que podríamos llevar para dar a nuestro perrito, pero el señor nos dijo que no podíamos llevar la carne del rodízio, le pregunté porque se lo he pagado y me dice que se lo lleva una empresa de comidas por la noche, ( cosa que no nos hemos creído). Pero bueno, ya pagamos y nos fuimos porque lo único que queríamos era salir corriendo de este sitio para...
