We were excited to visit Lucus Bar during our trip to Barcelona from South Africa, but our experience was incredibly disappointing. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I eventually went inside to find a staff member, only to be abruptly ignored. What made it worse was that two locals sat down at the table next to us and were helped immediately—while we were still waiting without so much as a greeting.
It genuinely felt like we were being treated differently because we were foreigners. We’re not the kind of people who leave bad reviews unnecessarily—we fully understand that we’re visiting another country and respect that things may be different. But the lack of basic hospitality here was unacceptable.
After checking other one-star reviews, we noticed a pattern—not just of bad service, but also of the owner dismissing complaints, saying that “everyone has a bad day” and that it’s unfair to leave a bad review because of it. But that’s exactly why reviews exist: to share honest experiences. Ironically, the menus on the tables explicitly invite guests to leave a review, yet when people do, their concerns are brushed off.
Barcelona is an incredible city full of warm hospitality, but Lucus Bar is the complete opposite. Instead, visit the restaurant next door, Via Napoli. We went there afterward and had an amazing experience—great service, a friendly and warm welcome, and we were helped right away.

Read moreThe food was bland, i ordered the steak “platter” and it was horrible. I ate the chicken and it tasted like the chef had just grilled it and sent it on the hot plate. More than half of the beef was just fat and the poor rest was meet. The server was rude and didn't know how to treat customers with respect and lacked proper work ethics. When she was asked about what the steak “platter” had she said whats on the picture(hardly visible). She couldn’t even tell me what was on the plate i was about to order. Not to mention how my friend ordered a sprite and she told he co-worker to hand it to whoever as if she didn't care about the customers she was serving. The water they gave us was at most lukewarm and they somehow did not think to put ice in the water cups. Would strongly recommend to stay away from this place if ur in the...
Read moreWhat a disasterous encounter with the spanish cuisine. We ordered vegetable paella and what we got was disappointing to say the least. There was no socarrat, no seasoning whatsoever and on top of that the rice was undercooked. We asked politely if they can cook it a little more because of health concerns and the cook got mad and tried to tell us that's how the rice is supposed to be. In the end they angrily put it back in the pan from our plates and finished cooking it, which made it edible, although it didn't change the fact that the paella had absolutely no taste to it. The only upside is that they had a pretty good sangria and the waitress...
