This is a family-run ice cream parlour that truly deserves a visit! It serves some of the best ice cream you’ll ever eat in the world.
I visited Barcelona this week for a 4-day trip and stumbled upon Planelles Donat by chance. I noticed a small line outside while on a walking tour on the first day of my trip, and once the tour ended, I made my way back there. I tried the chocolate ice cream and it was very, very good—creamy and flavourful.
I had to go again the next day, and this time I tried the pistachio ice cream while my partner had the mango sorbet. Both were fantastic.
Over the course of the trip, we tried chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, coconut, and mango—and all were excellent. You really can’t go wrong with any ice cream from this place.
The ice cream is also served by genuinely sweet people. I struck up a conversation with the smiling, patient person behind the counter—Marc. He told me this is a family-run business and everything is made in house.

Read moreThe taste of gelato is below mid to begin with and the girl who speaks English at gelato counter is absolutely ill mannered, rude and has zero regard for customers. She really need to learn some manners and get polite with foreign customers tbh I found her racist. We literally just asked her for an extra spoon and she started yelling “I just gave you one for tasting” I mean it was a mini spoon, I just threw it, do you really mind giving another? Also, even when we were tasting, we just asked to taste one gelato and of course we are decent enough to know it’s always one taste per person but that racist lady with glasses had to loudly inform us “it’s just one taste per person”. She didn’t behave the same way with other customers, it was just with us because of our skin colour that’s what I felt. Dear owner, if you read this please teach some etiquettes to that racist girl staff with glasses who spoke English at...
Read moreVery rude customer service. Almost insulting. I asked if I can try two flavours of ice cream, I was told that they allow to taste only one flavour. When I kindly explained that sometimes taste of pistachio and turrón are different in different places so I prefer to try it I was told: No, you are wrong! (Not sure what he meant by this but this sounded very rude). Finally he gave me to try it and honestly both were not tasty at all. Not creamy, but icy. You’ll find more flavourful ice creams in any random ice cream shop. Result: we left without...
