RABBAR — Restaurant in Barcelona

Yep, gorgeous square, ideal if you're with kids and all. But, they're taking the piss. We went on a Saturday evening, after a huge lunch, four adults three kids. Got a table outside. When the kids went for a walk round the plaza, they took their table and chairs away saying they needed them for other customers- there weren't any... It started raining. Kids came back. We ended up one on top of the other, trying to fit round a small table- no reaction from the waiters. We ordered crisps and a few tapas- food was OK, nothing wow either. The kids had just water. One of us, designated driver, was drinking cola. One had 3 glasses of red wine and the other two, we had beer. The bill: 170€. When I tried to talk to the waiter, especially for the 13!!! bottles of Alambra beer he charged us, (I was the only one having that beer and I'm still standing), he wouldn't have any of it. I asked to talk to the manager, he told me he was the manager and that's that. I paid the effing bill of course but I'm never going back. So, my recommendation for this place? Go to the...

The food is great but the service is beyond appalling. You are fine as long as you are ordering food but the minute you pay the bill a guy comes and tells you to leave as suddenly the table is reserved. He is so rude that another waiter had to come and apologize!! The same guy came while we were waiting for our food, which actually took a very long time, to tell us that we need to go if we are not eating. We explained that the food was taking ages and he just walked off not interested. Primero hay que destacar que tanto el café como la comida eran muy buenos, las bravas, pimientos del padrón, delicias de brie y las croquetas excelentes. Sin embargo, lo siento mucho pero hay un gran problema con el servicio. Así fue lo sucedido: Llegamos el lunes a las 12h30 del medio día para tomar un café. Nos dijeron que en breve tendríamos que irnos si no nos quedábamos para comer, es comprensible. Decidimos quedarnos, no sin que una camarera, seguida medio minuto después del encargado nos pidió "¿os quedáis para comer?" , como si era todo ya preparado para echarnos... No pedimos menú sino unas cuantas tapas. Así que éramos clientes interesante para el restaurante ya que la cuenta salia mas cara que si hubiéramos tomado un menú (y de nuevo, repito, nos gustó la comida). Sin embargo sentimos progresivamente que subía la presión para irnos a las 14h. Considero que una hora para comer es muy poco en España, y en Europa en general. Además, habíamos pedido a las 13h y las (muy buenas) croquetas habían tardado más de media hora en llegar... Puedo entender perfectamente que en la restauración hay que rendir, sobre todo cuando hay cola. Pero no había gente esperando una mesa. A partir de las 14h varias mesas estaban libres (lo normal dado la presión para irse). Y casi no nos dejaron tomar cafés para acabar. Sin embargo, para pagar fue todo inmediato. Es más, habíamos puesto las 2 tarjetas de crédito en la cesta para dividir la cuenta. Y sin decirnos nada, pusieron directamente el datáfono con la totalidad de la cuenta encima de una de las tarjetas, y ya estaba todo pagado con el contactless! Y encima teníamos que irnos enseguida. Fue una lástima acabar así. El lugar es bonito, la comida es buena, pero la presión sobre la clientela es excesiva, sobretodo, repito, que era un lunes al medio día y sin gente esperando una mesa. No puedo imaginar un viernes... Recomiendo el lugar por su comida, pero no si queréis ni que sea empezar una principio de buena...
