The prices appeared good on the menu, but were sadly misleading. My father and I went to La Perla for dinner on a Monday night and were utterly disappointed in the service, quality of the food, and the prices. As we entered, we were treated almost like a burden, being emotionlessly greeted and brought to our table in the back of the completely empty restaurant. The bread that we were given without question was extremely hard, and apparently not free like one would assume if it was just given to them. They didn't have everything available to order due to being out of certain foods, even though it seemed we were the first ones there. Our starter that we received after hearing our initial order wasn't available was decent, but was small and cost more than each of our main dishes. Once our meals arrived, I was quick to notice that mine had been dumped into the dish and crudely wiped off, leaving a sticky residue along most of the plate. I had ordered hake, and when I cut into it, it seemed to be pasty and extremely dry, despite being almost fully submerged in an oddly tasting soup. The fish itself tasted like it had been frozen for a long period of time, and reminded me of an old Macdonald's Fish Filet sandwich being served late into the evening. Not exactly what I expected for something close to 15€. Altogether, the total cost was around 65€ despite both entrees and the starter costing a sum of about 45€ including tax. The waters, singular beer, and bread accounts for the rest. However, on a positive note, the bar seemed to be stocked with a large variety of...
Read moreThe description Google shows is kind of weird. This is a typical Spanish bar/restaurant. I had an omelet for breakfast before and it came in the middle of a bread which was very different from American style omelet and I didn't like the Spanish style omlet, but that's just me, so not going to count against the restaurant. The place seem popular, so I went back for dinner today and inside was very nice and I was surprised to see the menu in multiple languages! They even had menu in Korean! Wow! I had a fish and bread with tomato sauce and they were very good. Price was about average, quality was pretty good, and service was pretty good too. Two different people served me and one barely spoke any English. She asked me long/medium w/ some flipping gesture. So I thought she meant maybe well done or medium on fish, but it looked like she meant how long I wanted my bread to be toasted. I said long 'cause I wanted fully cooked fish. And the bread came out little too toasted than I would have liked. I will come back again tomorrow if I don't go to the tapas place in Catalunya.
Update on next day: I came back for the Paella Mixta and it was superb! It was much better than other place I liked. It had much more sauce and was very good eating with the plain bread. Price was cheaper too than the other one in this area. I wished I had come here first for paella. The same lady from yesterday served. She barely spoke any English, but we communicated OK. So other than that weird Spanish style omlet I had here, everything else...
Read moreA nice restaurant close to the NH hotel where I stayed. First meal was dinner, the seafood paella, and it was excellent and more than I could finish. As a lover of mussels and other seafood it made my evening. Next meal was a breakfast as an omelette sandwich (bocadillo Frances?) also very good combined with a cappuccino and water. Enjoyed it and the server so much I had the same breakfast another morning. Last meal was a Menu del Dia, which they graciously served me earlier than the 1pm start time. The gazpacho was very good as was the main and the rice with milk dessert reminded me of my childhood. Alexandra was very friendly and helped me with my stumbling English. I would return...
