Good cakes are expensive. The issue is that bad cakes are expensive too! 😓 OK, you can always go to the supermarket and find something that's not too expensive and not too good either. But when you're invited, you don't wanna bring something from the supermarket and you wanna bring something good. 🤷 I know a couple of bakeries where I know I can find good cakes. But a few weeks ago we were invited to a couple of friends' and we were supposed to bring dessert. Unfortunately we were running late so we didn't have time to go to these bakeries. So we gambled and assumed we would find something close to where we were going, Poble Nou, which is a neighborhood where we never go, hence a neighborhood we absolutely don't know. 😔 So we asked Maps for help and it sent us to TRIGO Pan y Postres. Let's face it, the place is not appealing and I would have never considered it if the rating hadn't been so good. Anyway, we didn't have a choice and we needed a cake, urgently. So we bought what we thought everybody would like: a pistachio "log" made of a genoise, pistachio cream, a heart of pistachio spread and covered with pistachio flavored white chocolate. As a bonus, on the top of the log were 5 couples of pistachios: ideal to know how to cut the 5 slices for the 5 of us. 🙏 Not the most beautiful cake ever but it looked nice enough for the occasion. First off, even though we followed the instructions and let the cake rest outside of the fridge for a couple of hours, it was still too cold when we ate it. Convenient to cut, not for the taste. That said, the cake tasted good and all the plates looked brand new when we were done with it. 😅 That cake was for 5, maybe 6, no more. and we paid €28 which is a standard price for a cake in a bakery in BCN nowadays. Now I want to try it again, but at the right temperature... if only I knew how to manage it! 🤔

Read moreTRIGO Pa i Postres offers a delightful variety of desserts that cater to both traditional tastes and those seeking something a little different. The shop itself boasts a cozy atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to relax and indulge. Each dessert is beautifully presented, with great attention to detail. While some flavors didn't entirely hit the mark for me, the overall quality of the pastries was good. The service was efficient, though it felt somewhat hurried. It’s a nice place to visit for a casual treat when in the...
