Tsukimi — Restaurant in Barcelona

My partner and I just had dinner at this place and all I can say is that we were absolutely disappointed with the service. We saw the place online and it captured our attention because of the aesthetics of the place and mainly because of the robot serving the food. From the moment we were sat, we were not informed that this place generally serves buffets menu. We found this out by asking one of the waiters if the dishes looked the same as the menu, due that we couldn’t see the units of the sushi, in which the waiter responded that we could order just the dish without buffet menu. As someone who works in hospitality, if a customer makes this kind of question, I would not only assume but ask for confirmation if they are interested in the buffet menu (as the waiter said afterwards that the restaurant mainly does buffet menu) and explain how the restaurant goes. This would take away any kind of confusion with the customer and waiter and also the kitchen staff. Once we ordered, our food came in quick, however we saw that our entry dish only had 3 units, which made us confused as in the menu it states that there are 4. We told our waiter and he said that we could repeat the dish as many times as we wanted. this is how they found out (even though we already asked while ordering), and we found out, that we didn’t ask for the buffet. You would think that after this inconvenience the staff were informed that our table didn’t ask for a buffet menu, but no. Later throughout eating out food, we were served 2 repeated dishes, which if it was the case that we did order a buffet menu, it wouldn’t make sense for them to serve again food that we didn’t place an order to. I was initially very impressed by the restaurant’s food and service and I had given it 5 stars with the intention of coming back since the place was quite new, my only worry was that the quality of the food and service would degrade over time. I eventually came back with a few friends but unfortunately we were all dissatisfied and disappointed. The service had become mediocre, the waiters forgot half of our orders every single time and that really annoyed us because I had been speaking about this place for such a long time. Will not be coming back that’s for sure.

Below is my initial review*( I’m a big fan of this place! It’s an all you can eat sushi buffet that feels like a high quality a la carte sushi restaurant! The variety of the sushi, the quality, the fast service, it just does it all so perfectly. Our first order was gigantic and it came so quick, the waiters weren’t rude at all when they saw the amount of ordered items and I really appreciated it. It’s a little bit more expensive compared to other sushi buffets around town but that won’t bother you once you have a look at the rice fish ratio on the sushi, all I can say is that they’re very generous. I can go on and on about how I liked the food but this review would never end. Once we were done they offered us limoncello shots and branded bottle openers. I was disappointed by this sushi restaurant, especially by the level of service that was provided.

My friends and I came at night, at 20h30, and paid for the buffet.

Food was very good, but it came often times cold, and unfortunately almost half of the plates we ordered were not delivered. We asked the waiters for the missing ones, and they agreed on bringing them, but in the end they didn’t arrive…

On top of this, we were asked to leave at 22h because the table we were at was reserved for another group at that time. We didn’t agree on leaving, as half of the food we ordered was not delivered yet.

I consider this was unacceptable for a buffet, as they should be used to people ordering large amounts of food and different plates.

We considered that it was rude for them to ask us to go when they were slow with service, even with the delivery robots.

I am very sad to have had this experience, as the atmosphere was excellent and food taste was great.
