A Culinary Wonderland at Xrea!
My friends and I recently had the pleasure of dining at the extraordinary Restaurant Xrea in Barcelona, and I couldn't wait to share our remarkable experience. From the moment we stepped in, it was evident that this was no ordinary dining affair.
The diverse array of dishes we tasted was nothing short of delightful. Each plate showcased a perfect balance of flavors and was a testament to the culinary artistry of the chefs at Xrea. From appetizers to desserts, we were taken on a gastronomic journey that left our taste buds dancing.
What truly set Xrea apart, however, was the exceptional friendliness of the staff. Nicolas, the owner, deserves a special mention for his warmth and generosity. Despite arriving without a reservation around 20:30, the restaurant was fully booked. Fortuitously, Nicolas offered us a temporary haven in his new cocktail bar, a gem in itself. A mere 30 minutes and one exquisite cocktail later, he personally escorted us to our table in the restaurant.
In the face of our indecision regarding what to order, Nicolas suggested the ingenious idea of sharing 12 different courses among our group. This turned out to be a stroke of brilliance. The food was not just a meal; it was a captivating experience. Every dish was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, delivering a sensational culinary adventure that left us in awe.
Our evening at Xrea was more than dining; it was an immersive journey into the world of flavors, textures, and genuine hospitality. We left with full hearts, satisfied palates, and memories of a beautiful evening. Thank you, Nicolas, and the entire team at Xrea, for making our visit...
Read moreWe were a party of 17 visiting Barcelona for just a day and a half and wanted to have an authentic tapas experience for dinner and as you can imagine most restaurants weren’t able to accommodate such a large party given that they are small and intimate in size, yet when I reached out to Xera they said that while their restaurant is also small and intimate in size that they would love to have us and would ensure we were seated as a group and have a wonderful experience.
When we arrived they were ready for us and had prepared a beautiful dining area on their second floor for us and additionally prepared a prefix menu with options that included varieties of wine (if we were interested).
The group went with the prefix option (with the wines) as it included their top tapas in addition to many other tapas that were on their menu for the night. There were a variety of wines that accompanied the meal which included both sangria and sparkling wine if anyone desired.
Service was AMAZING which as you can imagine may not be the easiest with such a large party, however, the servers tended to all of our needs and when they realized there were a few tapas that weren’t finished, asked if we wanted to try alternatives just in case we didn’t care for the originals … WOW!
The tapas themselves were all delicious including the desert tapas and the entire party was stuffed, tipsy and happy at the end of the meal.
The manager Nicholas also recommended a nearby cocktail bar and even arranged for the portion of our party who was interested in having nightcaps to have seats at the bar and walked us over to ensure we...
Read moreThis place was amazing. We had a group of 8 people. When we made reservations they told us they would do their tasting menu. It came out to 65€ per person with drinks. We had 2 people in our party that don’t drink and they accommodated us and charged them less for a non alcoholic version.
The food was amazing. It was all shared tapas that came out as they were ready. There was so much I couldn’t list it all from memory. But everything was amazing! We also had some members of our party that don’t like seafood. They offered to change out some of the seafood courses, but by the time we realized it the kitchen was already preparing the seafood. But if we had communicated it up front, they would have switched out some plates!
The drinks were also great. When we sat down they offered us a pre dinner drink. They offered us anything from the bar and we got sangria and Aperol spritz’s. Then when the food came out we got a bottle of wine for each group of 2 people (half a bottle of wine per person). And after the meal they gave us a digestif shot. And they were even considerate enough to bring shot glasses of orange juice for the people that don’t drink!
The staff was all amazing. Explained things well, were very kind, and seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. They also spoke perfect English!
Overall an amazing experience to get a taste of Spanish cuisine! And for a great price, all...
