As I approached the Basque restaurant, the aroma of grilled meats and spicy peppers filled my nostrils, tantalizing my taste buds and making me salivate with anticipation. From the outside, the establishment appeared unassuming, but as soon as I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a culinary treat.
The decor was minimalistic, with exposed brick walls and dim lighting, creating an ambiance that was simultaneously intimate and rustic. The chef, a culinary virtuoso, approached me with a warm smile and an air of confidence, eager to showcase his Basque-inspired dishes.
I started with a plate of pintxos, small bites of deliciousness that were bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh and thoughtfully paired, each bite an explosion of taste in my mouth. The standout was the foie gras with fig jam, a combination that was both rich and sweet, and left me wanting more.
Next up was the seafood platter, a stunning display of the bounty of the nearby Bay of Biscay. The grilled octopus was perfectly tender and smoky, while the shrimp were plump and succulent. The star of the show, however, was the grilled turbot, which was so perfectly cooked that I could have sworn I was dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
For my main course, I opted for the chuletón, a massive rib-eye steak that was grilled to perfection and served with a side of roasted potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. The meat was so tender and flavorful that I practically had to restrain myself from licking the plate clean.
As I sipped my glass of Txakoli, a crisp Basque white wine, I couldn't help but marvel at the culinary wizardry that had just taken place. The chef had seamlessly blended tradition with innovation, creating dishes that were both familiar and exotic, simple yet complex.
Overall, my dining experience at this Basque restaurant was nothing short of phenomenal. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was just right. If you're looking for a truly unforgettable culinary experience, I highly recommend this restaurant - you won't be...
Read moreWhen this first opened it was a great place to go for a meal and the beer, but now after returning to try it again can only say I was highly disappointed, to dtart the service was terrible was sitting watching to order for more than half an hour, we had the menu del dia which includes a beer in the price but when we received our bill the two beers we had had be added to the price When we queried this we were told that we beer we had was not included at no time were we told about this and it wasn't just us lots of the other tables were the same. One group of four lads asked for the beers that they should have received with the menu of the dia, once they received them they got up and left without touching the beers. Food was nothing to write home about this place has sadly gone down hill and I wouldn't recommend anybody eating there...
Read moreIt was the bad luck for the four of us in this place as others around were fully booked. Imagine the worst burger in the world and you can easily find it here. Imagine it cold, undercooked, accompanied by terrible tasting chips and without any sauce and you find it here. They don't bring mayonnaise, they don't bring mustard, they don't bring ketchup. Imagine that when you ask for sparkling mineral water it comes in a tiny wine glass. Additionally, everything heavily overpricedike as in their menu. When you imagine all this, you understand why it is so little frequented and It was free for us tò book less than twenty minutes before eight pm's rush time and honestly it's not even worth wasting time talking about it. There is a Burger King nearby where we...
