The place is a must-go if u want to eat delicious local food, spend a nice time in a nice ambiance! The waiter speaks English and is very helpful. We bumped into this place when we were looking for an open restaurant around 5 p.m., and we were starving. He told us that on Fridays and Saturdays, restaurants close kitchens between 4 and 7.30. Sadly, we only had a capuccino. It was a very good balance of coffee and milk. Later, we got back to the place (mainly because of the friendly behavior of the waiter) and ate here. What a great decision it was! We ordered half a portion of meatballs with sauce (albondigas), stuffed peppers (pimientos rellenos), bakalao (cod fish in pepper sauce), Bilbao style txakoli and cheesecake. The waiter explained which dishes were local and the kinds of txakoli before we ordered. As for the taste, meatballs had a great sauce (felt homemade as the waiter claimed), stufffed peppers were so creamy (definitely to be tried out), cod's sauce was also super tasty. Cheesecake was much different than the ones i ate before. It came warm, and it wasn't so sweet. Txakoli was dry but tasty (i normally prefer semidry). Definitely would come back...

We got the menu of the day. For starters we took the beans and the creamy rice with meat. They could be main courses as the portion is generous. Taste was good for both, with some authentic basque ingredients.
For mains we got the sea bream and sea bass. Very tasty, but hard to differentiate between the two fishes. We washed it down with the wine, which was surprisingly light and easy to drink.
For dessert we had the pears and cheesecake. Both great. I feel the pears could use some ice cream or crème fraiche on the side.
For the price, this is simply outstanding cuisine. We left extremely satisfied and added a healthy tip, which you should do too.

Read moreFound this place by accident when we walked back to our hotel. Very decent price, and generous portion for the lunch. I had menu del dia (lunch set menu) that includes bread, starter, main, dessert and water/wine. Turned out it was a whole bottle of wine, not a glass. I didn’t want to drink it, and didn’t want to waste it, so I ordered a glass of white wine instead.
It’s a small place but I like the ambience and the music. The lady didn’t speak English but she was nice, smiling and she tried her best. Then main guy speaks English well.
Coffee con leche was very good. San Miguel was fresh. Cheesecake tastes better than it looks. The fish was THE main star....
