I chose Castillo De Aleppo for my dinner after reading positive reviews.
I was welcomed by the owner in a kind and warm but not slimy way. I dislike being revered and flattered as if I was the Prince of Zenda, so a honest and respectful welcome is perfect for me. I asked a table for one and was seated at a comfortable large dining table with enough space for 4 people.
The menu is quite rich and varied, I chose a starter and a main dish accompanied by a lemon beverage of the house, which was made without sugar at my request. I actually asked if there was any sugar in it, and the owner himself suggested he could make one without any at all.
Both my courses and the drink were delicious, the portions were quite massive for normal people but I usually eat a lot, so I calmly powered through both of them. I had in mind to go for an ice cream afterwards, but I reluctantly gave up the thought after eating so much, and instead took a long walk around the old town. The years go by for everybody, after all. The dishes tasted like what they were supposed to and it was possible to discern the single ingredients, which is a bonus as far as I'm concerned. I really enjoyed them.
The interior is not fancy, but it's clean and creates a nice cozy atmosphere with few well-chosen elements. I think the decor fits the restaurant and the food very well without being overly exotic. For me, this is perfectly fine because I like eating good food and prioritize cleanliness and ambience compared to fanciness.
I spent around 25 euros, but compared to most proper restaurants in that part of Granada, I think the price is fair given the quality and quantity of the food I ate. I had a feeling the place was more attended by locals than tourists.
Both the owner and the waitress who served me were friendly, smiling and polite, and I had a feeling of being a well accepted patron instead of a nuisance to get rid of as soon as possible. Even well after I had finished my large meal, nobody came to collect my empty dishes and kick me out in a rush.
I recommend this restaurant to anybody who shares my tastes as per this review, and I will definitely come again myself if I visit...

Read moreWe walked in off the street and were welcomed like long time customers. The service was polite, helpful and quick. The food came quickly and although the portions were not overly large they were exquisite. We prefer quality over quantity but neither were lacking. The beers are alcohol free but taste great. We had two dishes - Hummus con carne and Parilla Combinado + three beers for €38.80 which we believe was good value. The ambience of the place was busy, not overly crowded, but very comfortable and there was no need to speak loudly to converse. One thing that was very pleasant to see was how quickly and thoroughly they cleaned the tables, chairs and floor after patrons had left. The interior walls are finished like the Palacio Nazaries - truly amazing - with the tables and chair being very comfortable. Castillo de Aleppo stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in Granada and you should definitely go there and treat yourself. My wife and I would like to thank all the gracious and smiling staff that were working on Tuesday night July 15th 2025. Thank you , muchas gracias, mille grazie,...
