Fantastic tapas, you won't need to order as much as you might think. We went for patatas bravas, pork cheek and beef stew and that was delicious. It is a very popular place and the 'bouncer' had a chalkboard with the names of those waiting for a table that he would announce when a table became free. The chief waiter seemed very aloof almost arrogant as he lowered himself to take our order. But then I guess if you're this good you can act in that manner? The queue of hungry people seemed testament to how good the place is. Maybe he doesn't like Brits/Welsh. But we're cultured, moneyed and well behaved and left a decent tip anyway. More for the chef than for him, actually. On balance I would go back for the food and hope it was his day off, then it would rate 5 stars. Being good and continuing to strive for better gets you 5 stars. Being good and arrogant only nets you...

Mesón del Asador – Frustrating Service, Tasteless Tapas, but Excellent Fish

We walked into Mesón del Asador hoping for a good local meal, but the experience was hit-and-miss. Service-wise, it was frustrating. We asked for Fanta Limón, and instead they brought us something else without even asking — just because it wasn’t available. To be fair, they didn’t charge us for it, which we appreciated, but it would’ve been more respectful to let us know before bringing something we didn’t want.

The patatas bravas were the biggest letdown. They just weren’t tasty — bland, unseasoned, and lacking the flavor you expect from such a classic tapa.

Thankfully, the fish was a different story: fresh, well-cooked, and delicious. It really stood out and saved the meal from being a total disappointment.

In short, come for the fish if you go — but don’t expect great service or...

Enjoyed a chilly evening meal here at one of their outdoor tables in mid January. Don’t remember exactly what we got because Google Translate didn’t quite make sense when I took a photo of the menu but I think one was lamb and the other pork. The meats were good. I’m not a fan of potatoes but I think each big plate comes with a big portion of fried potato slices. I think both plates were around €20. Enjoyed a jar of sangria too. The waiter is very respectful and nice. Good place to try as I gather it’s a favorite among locals and the waiter does not speak English (you can still get by though). We were there on a weekday at around 9:30 PM, I think, and it wasn’t busy. Would recommend sitting closer to the restaurant’s entrance as sometimes people will stop by asking...

I went to Jerez de la Frontera for a day trip and stopped by this place for an asado lunch — it was absolutely delicious. At first, I was a bit nervous since it seemed like a very local spot and the staff didn’t speak much English, but they were incredibly welcoming and did their best to make communication easy for us. We ordered the grilled octopus with potatoes, the steak with potatoes, and some grilled peppers — all of which were packed with flavor and beautifully cooked. A proper, first-hand taste of authentic asado!

It's not as good as what you would suspect from a very nice steak and I took one of the best they do. Normally for 2 persons . The meat is not that quality you would suspect. And way to.much salt in it. . The burning Chorizo is seriously nice. The look and the tast simply a thing you need to do, same as the local Wine the local. A bottle 13 euro is really very nice. The dessert the "grandmother " cake.. just go for it . It's really great so when my you are here. Go and try
