I did the visit to the Bodega Gonzales Byass in Jerez in August this year together with my wife. I paid quite a lot (around 18 Euro/each for visit + 4 cups of different sherry and few tapas). We liked the visit a lot and all the details we received about story and production of the Sherry. Among the Sherries we tasted we felt in love with "Solera 1847" and at the end of the tour we bought some bottles in the Bodega shop before the exit. We paid 8,5 Euro each botthe. Buying directly from the producer we were thinking that 8,5 it was a good price. We have been very disappointed and annoied when, later on we found the same Sherry (same size) at 6,25 Euro in a big Mall. Checking other shops we found the same Solera always below 7 Euro (the max was 6,95). Definatively they should offer better prices for the customers buying directly the sherry inside their production...

We received the tour of this bodega for €4 with our Hop On Hop Off bus tour. It was a terrific value, even with the extra €3 we paid for the accompanying tapas. Our tour guide, Joao, was amazing. He spoke English and French for our small group and was a terrific storyteller. He seemed truly interested in the history of the place. The grounds and gardens surrounding the bodegas are remarkable! The entire place is geared toward tourists, but we enjoyed it and had fun tasting the sherries and brandies. I personally prefer the Gutierrez-Colosia sherry from Puerto de Santa Maria, but it is really fun being able to make intelligent comparisons of the...

Well rehearsed tour, train ride hmmm, for 23.50pp not bad value considering four sherries for tasting but all pretty much vin ordinaire. Similar to the tours of Cognac and Porto/Douro Valley not comparable to Bordeaux. As they said, Sherry is about consistency, ditto Cognac and Port unless of course u dig deep into your pocket. At the restaurant they served a Sherry Twister, interesting. Parked in town underground car park, 3min walk, safe. Some complained about parking space, similar to the UK, no issues. Warehouses cold, nah, read a review that said so, 😄 Wish we had time to visit a few other Bodegas for comparison.

If you are interested in learning more about wine and the cherry culture, this is definitely one of the spot you should visit in Cadiz. I had a great tour guide who was with us for more than 1 hour and explained everything related to the winery history and the wine making process. I had seen several reviews complaining about them playing a boring 20 minute video and then just offering a quick visit to the place. My experience was nothing like that. No video and plenty of time to enjoy the place.
