Dilecto Gastrobar — Restaurant in La Orotava

We agreed that this one was the best restaurant we’ve had so far after a week here! Food was amazing. We tried the menu’s fish croquetas and tacos, which were delicious, and flavourful. We had the seasonal tomato and sorbet-like cucumber soup which was beautiful and intriguing. We’re amazed by the pork leg with sweet potato purée with salad and pumpkin. We already declined the desserts but after we looked at the menu, we got the goat cheesecake with guava jam and almond crumble. It was divine! Smoky goat cheese and tartness of the jam… If we could give the service a 12 we would’ve done it. Our server was attentive, explained each of the dish on the menu and delightful. We were supper happy and had a nice meal tho the weather is drizzly and grey. Totally recommend this! Oh! And the location is not far from main attractions, on the roof of the parking building, perfect for summery...

¡Dilecto: Más risas que cena gourmet! 🤷‍♀️ Fuimos a Dilecto Gastrobar esperando una experiencia culinaria, pero nos llevamos una clase magistral de humor involuntario. La tabla de quesos estaba buena, sí, pero su tamaño era de "muestra gratis" para su precio. 💸 Y esas galletas/tortitas... ¡Madre mía! Parecía que las sacaron de un botiquín para la indigestión. 😬

La camarera... ¡ay, la camarera! Encantadora, sí, pero con más conversación que un podcast. 🎙️ Pedir la cena fue como participar en un reality show de "vendedores por vocación". Muy gracioso y espontáneo, sí, pero para un gastrobar que se precie, la informalidad rozó lo excéntrico. Uno viene a comer, no a hacer relaciones públicas, ¡pero se agradece la "charla"! 😉

Si buscas paz y sofisticación, quizás este no sea tu sitio. Pero si lo tuyo es una aventura culinaria con dosis extra de comedia, Dilecto te espera. We visited Dilecto Gastrobar hoping for a culinary experience, but instead, we got an involuntary masterclass in humor. The cheese board was fine, sure, but its size was more "free sample" for the price. 💸 And those crackers/tortillas... Oh my! They tasted like something you'd get from a medicine cabinet for indigestion. 😬

The waitress... oh, the waitress! Charming, yes, but with more conversation than a podcast. 🎙️ Ordering dinner felt like participating in a "natural-born salesperson" reality show. Very funny and spontaneous, yes, but for a self-proclaimed gastrobar, the informality bordered on eccentric. You come here to eat, not to do public relations, but we do appreciate the "chat"! 😉

In short, if you're looking for peace and sophistication, this might not be your spot. But if you're into a peculiar culinary adventure with an extra dose of comedy, Dilecto awaits. Las arepas (“arepapas”) grasientas, con exceso de aceite; me costó terminarlas. El #vino sabía mareado, tenía un sabor mareado como si no estuviera bien conservado. 🚫He recorrido muchos lugares durante mi viaje y hay sitios mucho mejores, con diferencia. 🍽️La cocina #canaria que me recomendaron aquí no tiene alma. The arepas were greasy, soaked in oil, and hard to finish. Even the wine tasted off, like it hadn’t been stored properly. 📍 This place had been recommended for #Canarian cuisine, but what I found was heartless food with no authenticity.
