Do not go if you don’t want to pay double price for spoiled mood. We have order gaspacho soup, half portion pork ribs and one glass of tinto de verano. Food wasn’t tasty but it wasn’t the worst part. We got bill for €38(!) which didn’t correspond to prices in the menu. Gaspacho was 12 EUR vs 7 EUR in the menu. Ribs were half portion (very small), but they charged us 22 EUR which is full portion. Unfortunately we didn’t take pictures. UPD: restaurant returned us 5 EUR as they admitted they charged us for 1 litter gaspacho (not what we ordered or what was delivered). However they didn’t return money for the other half-dish. To whoever replies: they did a refund of 38 EUR and re-charged back 33 EUR (returned us 5 EUR difference). Refund ticket is attached. P.S. funny to see that owner has fully edited original very rude response. Well, judge yourself if you still want to go there :)

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime, it was full of Spaniards - good sign! Offered seats downstairs but spotted a little table for two being vacated and they immediately cleared it for us. Had a delicious manzanilla sherry and a small beer to go with a generous 1/2 raciĂłn each of pickled anchovies with a garlic and parsley sort of pesto on top (boquerones en vinaigre) and the roasted red peppers with tuna belly (pimientos asadas con ventresca). Preceded these with (what turned out to be quite a big) pincho of tortilla. All delicious, helpful attentive staff, delighted we found it! So delicious I ate most of mine before I remembered to take a pic.

Best place around Plaza de la Independencia for either tapas, proper dining, group meals and true homemade Spanish food: first class Salmorejo, truly Spanish lentejas, meatballs second to none, Spanish tortilla, and during weekdays a €16,5 3 course menu with plenty of choice. Boasts some of the best desserts in town (do not miss out on their chocolate cake) and real expresso. Not seen it myself, but during the weekends they have an inhouse DJ in the basement. I work nearby and it is the place to go alone or with friends. Great service and value for money.

Anti foreigner. We just had to leave as we couldn’t get service as Americans even though some of us lived in Madrid previously. First, they served Spaniards at the restaurant tap water which we wanted but they served us bottled water so we had to pay. Then they just ignored us when we wanted to order even when we said the kids were hungry. We went and spoke to other waiters who blew us off. We had to just pay for our water and leave since we couldn’t get service.

Edited: I see the response from the owner below. The part about a waiter coming to help us but we weren’t ready is absolutely false. We even wanted just wine and beer but no one ever came after we got water and when we said the kids were hungry he said to wait and never came back so we left after saying something to two other waiters that ignored us. The owner wasn’t even there - we asked. I recommend he speak to his employees about treating...

It’s ok, that’s all I can really say, I got a ‘tuna salad’ which arrived as large chunks of lettuce hearts, quartered tomatoes and preserved tuna fillets all separated in their own sections. Likely my lack of familiarity with Spanish food didn’t help but it was a weird presentation. Everything was fresh, the fish was not to my taste, I like fish fresh. Definitely not inexpensive for Spain but reasonable. Waiter was friendly and attentive if not super impressed with my terrible Spanish :P. Btw to the owner, thanks for the response but please, I said I likely was not familiar with the presentation coming from California, so no, not everyone knows tuna bellies are preserved -...
