Churreria Las Farolas — Restaurant in Madrid

The staff is EXTREMELY rude! I went with a friend to order coffee. First they kept telling us to go around the bar to order a coffee to go. After 3 times they finally managed to put me in the right place. My friend who was visiting from Greece took a picture of me in the bar. The girl behind the counter ended up getting so upset over the picture that she demanded to see it. She got SO angry when we refused to show it to her that she just threw the coffee away. I strongly believe they’re rude because the owner is never on site. Terrible place! I wouldn’t recommend it. There are many bars in the area with much friendlier staff and better breakfast deals....

All of the food is great here, and there's nothing to complain about how quickly you get served, or their long hours to serve every person's timetable. If you're an American (or possibly just an English speaker in general) you might feel the staff behind the bar is a little brusque, but pay it no mind. No es churrería de aire castizo; pero ya es suficiente que sea churrería (porras, churros, chocolate o buen café) en estos tiempos en los que tantas churrerías tradicionales han ido desapareciendo. Para los que conocimos aquellas pequeñas churrerías de barrio, en las que se respiraba el olor del aceite recibiendo la masa dada forma por la abertura de la manga y la hábil y rápida maniobra del churrero; o contemplamos con asombro infantil cómo dos palos eran eficaz herramienta para voltear la espiral de masa en trance de tostado de la que saldrían, con rápìdos tijeretazos, las porras; esas churrerías que te recibían con su cálido abrazo en invierno (achicharrante en verano para el que entraba y en cualquier estación para el currante)... como digo, a los que vivimos aquello e incluso la tradición de las churreras ambulantes con sus cestos o sus mesas plegables recubiertas de cinc.... a los que fuimos llevando el atillo de junco con churros o porras... que siga habiendo un lugar donde tomar recién hechos unos churros o una porra, nos consuela por ser un hilo que nos conecta al pasado... y, ya se sabe, "cualquier tiempo pasado, fue mejor"...
