CURRY & CANELA RESTAURANTE HINDU, INDIO, NEPALI — Restaurant in Madrid

This is one of the better Indian/Nepalese restaurants in Madrid, according to me. I think they have a knack for saucery, the vindaloo gravy was really good and the meat was tender with no gristle. I enjoyed it so much I didn’t even mind the unusual addition of potatoes. The dhansak was not a lentil heavy as I would have liked but once the again the sauce was great, more sweet and sour than I’m used to but very enjoyable. The staff were friendly even if the service was mistimed, Diner 2 had his starter 30 mins before Diner 1, who had had to rush through hers because the main meal arrived 3 minutes later.

Value for money? Hmm, not really. Curry in Madrid is needlessly expensive but here even more so. Would I go back? Yeah I think would. High point? We were welcomed very warmly and so is the atmosphere of this Restaurant. As Indian food lovers we have already tasted some great dishes and the food of Curry & Canela was delicious and satisfyed us completely.

Why I gave -1⭐️is because we ordered 2 menu, curry and naan and as the food was brought it was not clearly communicated for who it was. The curry was already served and we waited for the rice, so it went cold. This is important that the curry, rice or tandoori is somehow kept warm, or served on a hot plate/ fire. You also have to note that the rice has to be ordered extra, which was special for us and therefore increased the foods price more. The service was very friendly, even if he seemed to be a bit forgetful in some cases.

I waked in at working hours , the manager im guessing didn’t want me to come in and have a table ( FOR ONE ONLY ) when the whole restaurant was EMPTY not a single human being is in , because he had already reservation after one whole hour for a big group . He didn’t let me in and kept me outside while telling me the restaurant is full which is so funny as i mentioned no one was inside . I said the restaurant is open and i would like to have lunch , he said fine but try to finish ( IN 30 MIN ) this is so unprofessional i have never experienced this treatment in any restaurant ever .
