It is no secret that the Spaniards look down on and blatantly hate Asians, probably Asian tourists even more. It is pervasive. My teen daughter and I have encountered this discrimination, whether it be subtle or obvious probably over 30-40 times during our 5 day stay here going all over Madrid. It’s not a once or twice thing. It is nearly every interaction with a Spaniard. At this coffee shop, I ordered a small cappuccino to go. I speak some spanish so this brief encounters are all in their mother tongue. The barista used an old shot from who knows when and served it to me with a smile. Like I didn’t see what she had just done. Needless to say, the cappuccino was barely even warm. It was disgusting and I had to throw it out after a few sips. There is a bunch of grounds on the bottom. Have...
Muchas gracias
We ate there on July 30, 2023. Very tasty.
The nutritiousness of this homemade pastry seems to be unmatched by some other vegan things that we can see in other vegan establishments or vegan bars... as she told us that he uses eco semi-whole wheat flours, unrefined sugar, etc.
The cakes are very tasty.
And it is a luxury that among other things, there is also homemade HORCHATA (!!!).
The brunch comes with yogurt, orange juice, coffee or tea, and a choice of main course (depending on the type of brunch): Toast / Sandwich...
We tried the famous labneh toast, and a sandwich... and it is very tasty (although the photo we took comes out too "wide"; it doesn't look good, so I didn't upload that photo).
Other reviews say something about the downstairs, and it is very good. That part downstairs seems ideal for a group of people to "use" it at their leisure... since there is a large single table.
Now in July 2023 it closes at 5 pm. And she told me that during this August 2023 she will almost not close the Café, almost no day at all (I think she told me that it closes from 8th to 11th only, this August).
(Before the summer it used to close at 7 pm, if I remember correctly.)
Thank...
Read moreIn the heart of Madrid, down a quiet side street, lies a hidden gem whose unassuming exterior betrays nothing of the marvel within. The coffee served there is a masterpiece of flavor—rich, aromatic, and invigorating, beckoning one to savor every sip. Yet the true stars of this place are the cakes—creamy, tantalizing, and brimming with inspiration, as if crafted by a pastry artist intent on redefining perfection itself. I wholeheartedly recommend the carrot cake, its delicate layers of cream melting in the mouth like a sweet dream, leaving an indelible mark of pure delight. This is a place worthy of poetic praise, a secret treasure that, once discovered, lingers...
