I recently visited El 3 de Galdós, eager to try their celebrated egg-based plates. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by extremely slow service and an inflexible kitchen policy that ultimately led me to cancel my order and leave. The restaurant's menu features multiple elaborate dishes centered around eggs, yet when I simply requested a plain tortilla, the kitchen flatly refused. Given the restaurant's specialization, this rigid refusal to prepare a basic egg dish—a staple of Spanish cuisine—is both baffling and unacceptable. It demonstrates a frustrating lack of willingness to accommodate a simple customer request. Compounding this issue was the glacial pace of service. After placing my order, it took over 15 minutes for a simple glass of milk and a coffee to be delivered. The extreme delay for basic beverages signaled poor organizational flow, suggesting a wait that would be too long for the main dishes. At this point, I decided to cancel my entire order and leave to avoid further wasted time. It is worth noting that the waitress who served me was polite and seemed to have good intentions. She was clearly trying her best under difficult circumstances. However, the senior management behind the bar displayed a distinctly bad mood and poor resolutive behavior. Their unhelpful and unwelcoming attitude only exacerbated the service issues and contributed significantly to the negative experience. In summary, while the menu concept may sound promising, the combination of unjustifiable menu rigidity, painfully slow service, and unhelpful senior management made for a thoroughly disappointing visit. I would not recommend this restaurant until their approach to customer service and kitchen flexibility...
Read moreWas not welcomed to the restaurant. Sat down and waiter came to us a few minutes later and did not introduce himself or asked what we wanted using words, it was all with looks and waiting for us to let him know what we needed/wanted? Very awkward! Ordered 2 drinks (that literally had no alcohol in them), then asked for a menu (as he did not bring one to us) he then pointed us to look at the menu pasted on the wall at the entrance of the restaurant - we then saw other customers with menus on their hands so we asked for one when it should have been brought as soon as we requested it to begin with. The Waiter was a dark skin young Latin male - he claimed he was from the Dominican Republic. We were wondering why was this Waiter Soo unprofessional, rude, unwilling? ...No clue, all we know is that in Spain they do not work for Tips, as they get paid by the hour, so they are not there to earn a tip - so treatment will be as they please. We felt Soo awkward that we just left money on the table and left. Will not be going there ever again and Do Not recommend it or will recomende to friends and family Either. Advise: Learn to work for the public, be professional, be cutious, willing, inviting. After all this is your job! You are getting paid to do just that. If you continue this way, you will loose customers by the bunch. Retrain of staff is...
Read moreWe were extremely disappointed with this establishment today. We had paella and the mussels were closed when served, not safe to eat. The restaurant staff took them to the kitchen, forced them open and tried to tell us the rice makes them stay closed through cooking, they are ok to eat, here you go. We refused to eat them or to pay full price, we were told the management was not in Madrid so could not help, paella had to be paid. They called the police for us due to refusing to pay full price for the dangerous paella. They told the police we did not not have money to pay the bill in order for them to attend. This was incorrect, we were happy to pay for drinks and any safe food served to us. The police agreed we shouldn't pay for paella and a certain member of staff was very annoyed. After the police arrived, suddenly the management was in Madrid and could come to speak with us in 5 minutes, we chose to decline the offer to meet them since when we asked, they stated they were not in the city. We will never return to El 3 de galdos and highly recommend everyone avoids it at all costs. The staff were rude, a reflection of the management instructing them via telephone. Most shocking behavior from a restaurant, stay...
