Estupenda Café Bar — Restaurant in Madrid

A theme bar that seems to coast on the fame of the original TV show than actually do anything special itself.

We came in one evening (as casual fans of Twin Peaks) just for a few drinks. Ultimately, we only had one because of the overall vibe. Awesome aesthetic, but that's about it.

This place has seen better days. The downstairs was probably really cool 10 years ago, but now it's rundown and faded. Not like the photos (and you're not allowed there if there is show, even to look, so make sure to check ahead of time if that is something important for you to see.) The back room "diner" of the groundfloor is an odd vibe, and not in a TP sort of PNW 90s weird. Just... meh. Again, rundown and faded. Lightbulbs missing, dirty, etc. A lack of upkeep and care, basically. A lot of the decor is (was) cool, but I don't even know how to explain why it didn't hit for me. It was packed with people though.

The best is the decor in the front room. But nobody ever seems to sit there, except us. And the surly, cold bartender. I thought maybe that was just part of the gag that he was acting off and weird, but it turns out "rude" and "bad mood" seemed to be his natural state. Don't expect cool cocktails here. I ended up with an expensive tequila soda. Beer and mixed drinks.

The cherry pie looked like it was from the 1990s. Maybe it's fine early in the day, but it did seem at that time of night that it was a week-old. We didn't chance it. Nobody else there was eating either.

Great theme and awesome decor (once upon a time), but left to slight disrepair and surly staff made this an unfortunate and unexpected...

No pensaba escribir una reseña ya que finalmente nos dejaron terminar el evento, pero veo necesario aclarar unos comentarios que he leído por parte del local en respuesta a unas reseñas de las cuales no me hago responsable.

Nos llama "grupo pésimo" a un grupo que dentro del local no causó ningún problema en toda la noche. El principal problema vino porque un encargado no permitió la entrada a un invitado por beber una lata al lado de la puerta, algo respetable pero discutible porque creímos que con un aviso quedaba más que claro y como grupo no queríamos causar problemas. Esa misma persona entró más tarde solo a pedirle disculpas en persona al encargado (que pasó de él) y marcharse para no condicionar más la noche.

Nosotros no quisimos armar bronca en ningún momento; es más, fue su encargado (sorpresa) el principal responsable de bronca al levantarme la voz de forma muy desagradable delante de mis invitados. Ese mismo encargado me dijo que había avisado a mis compañeros tan solo dos veces (no más de tres, como ya he leído) sobre no sacar consumiciones a su soportal para fumar.

Entiendo y siento el malentendido respecto al concepto de reserva, aunque era surrealista cómo les daba igual el hecho de que estábamos llevando 50 potenciales clientes. No hablo de darnos prioridad, sino de pretender dar un servivio fluido a 90-100(?) personas de aforo en todo el bar con apenas dos o tres camareros a lo sumo.

"Muchos grupos grandes se fueron por estar vosotros" supongo que la persona no presente esa noche que escribe lo dice por las apenas 10 personas en toda la noche que quisieron entrar a la zona en la que estábamos: una zona con aforo de 50 personas, número al cual iba a llegar nuestro evento como habíamos acordado. Así que lo mismo incluso evitamos una multa al local por superar el aforo permitido. De nada.

Quien tampoco dió las gracias fue el ya citado y "amable" encargado después de hacerle saber que una persona ebria ajena a nuestro evento se había colado en esa barra trasera no controlada (al menos no tanto como la puerta del local, claro), había robado una botella de ginebra y le habíamos echado de la zona. El encargado en cambio sí que había estado atento a esa barra cuando literalmente me asomé a ella al llegar para presentarme, ya que apenas quedaban 10 minutos para que vinieran los invitados y estaba todo sin recoger. Acudió bien rápido y feroz, no fuera a ser que alguien con educación y predisposición a ayudar fuera a robarle alcohol con el bar medio vacío.

A pesar de cómo se gestionaron todas esas situaciones querría agradecer a la dueña, Silvia, por habernos permitido terminar el evento tal y cómo lo habíamos empezado, sin ningún problema más allá de...

Don't recommend this bar. Cocktails are ok, but nothing special. But 1 star because of psychopathic manager, who jump to us and started to scream in British English that we are not allowed to touch his retro keyboard. Yes, maybe we should not play it, but common, no sign about it, and power cable was next to the power plug (not hidden ), in this situation I would expect just kind explanation that he doesn't want me to play, but not overreaction and outrage. Especially that in the second music they didn't have other guests and even didn't have music. But I see from previous comments that manager of this place is not very nice person. Rather not...
