I have been to many Chinese restaurants in Spain but not many or if any as good as this one. Right from the get go as I enter, the hostess/waitress greeted my family with warmth and genuinity. You can sometimes tell when they just greet you with plastered smile, but that doesn't apply to them here at least for the lovely waitresses. The atmosphere is definitely more of a contemporary Chinese than the typical traditional style, which I really like. We and especially my daughter were given a lot of attention. The real star of the show though, is the food. I couldn't be happier with my freshly made dim sum. My wife had never eaten dim sum before, so coming to this restaurant is setting the bar sky high for her. In general, we absolutely loved our food to that extent that we ate everything to show appreciation for the love and care the chef has put in preparing the food for us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any connoisseur in Chinese food. It is not often I think it's worth paying more than double for anything that taste just a little better than the cheaper alternative. However, it goes without saying: you get what you pay for. El Buda Feliz makes you satisfied and that satisfaction is worth the extra penny.

¿Qué decir del mítico “primer” restaurante chino de España? Pues muchas cosas. Empezaré por la experiencia gastronómica, que es lo que seguramente te interese más: las fotos adjuntas son de la última vez que fui, a principios de agosto, pero he ido muchas veces a este restaurante, así que intentaré reflejar mi opinión global en esta review. El restaurante, que antaño ofrecía comida oriental más “de batalla”, hizo una amplia reforma que lo convirtió en lo que es hoy en día: un restaurante de comida oriental (principalmente china) gourmet, así que no esperes precios bajos. La comida, eso sí, es de muy buena calidad, aunque no diría que tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio. Mi recomendación: el pato laqueado, especialmente si lo acompañas con una cazuela de arroz. Naturalmente, depende de lo que quieras gastar. La carta es bastante completa e incluye información detallada de alérgenos. Como punto negativo, destacar algo que lamentablemente todavía sucede en muchos restaurantes, y es la reticencia a servirte jarra de agua (no tienen, qué casualidad). Te intentarán colar la botella, pero conoce tus derechos: desde julio de 2022, todos los locales deben servir por ley agua del grifo si el cliente se lo pide. Ahora, un poco del restaurante y su historia como tal, que también es interesante: Posiblemente hayas leído que este es el primer restaurante chino de España, y así presumen ellos en su carta, y también en el nombre: Buda Feliz 1974 (La fecha no está ahí por casualidad). En realidad, el primer restaurante chino de España que todavía está en activo es el Shangai 1968, en Rota. Me hace gracia cómo compiten todos ellos por colgarse la medalla en el nombre. Sin más, dato curioso. La ambientación, desde la remodelación, ha mejorado mucho, y está mucho más cuidada. Si vienes en grupo, recomiendo reservar una de las mesas de sillón acolchado de media luna. Si vienes con uno o dos acompañantes, recomiendo una de las mesas que están enfrente del ventanal que da a la Plaza de Santa María. Nunca he tenido problemas para reservar y muchas veces ni siquiera me ha hecho falta. TLDR: - Buen restaurante chino de comida gourmet - Relación calidad.precio adecuada - Cantidades adecuadas - Buena ambientación - Buen servicio - Tiempo de entrega adecuado

It's a nice place, staff was friendly and helpful. Now for the food: We were quite hungry so I forgot to take a picture of the duck rice dish. This dish was very flavourful and crispy notes were great, it was yummy. However, I do have to say from a person who loves salt, it was very very salty and hardly any vegetables. If you have high blood pressure, unfortunately this is not for you!! The second dish we ordered was the thick noodles with chicken based on the reviews. Um what chicken? There was maybe 3 tiny pieces and so much noodle, 0.5 grams of vegetables. Flavour was good, but nothing special. It isn't worth the money. Ay dios mío, she brought the bill and when we asked for take away so we can modify the noodles at home, she said we have to remove the bill to adjust it to add 0.3 euros to the bill for the box. That's just petty at that point!! I've been to a million restaurants, never in my life have I been charged for a Styrofoam box!! Better Chinese food can be found elsewhere!! ☹️

Last October 29, 2023, my friends and I went to this restaurant in Madrid because it had many recommendations. For entrée we selected springs rolls filled with pork and chives. We tried different plates: fried rice (Happy memories of yesterday, rice with chicken breast and prawnsshrimp), Hand-made noodles stir-fried with with chicken, mushrooms (Shou Zhua Shou Gan Mian), Crispy prawns with chef's sauce based on Chinese liqueurs( Bi Fen Tan Xia) lemon chicken made in house over charcoal, with chef's special sauce (Tan Kao Ning Ming J). In terms of flavor, the food was good, but there wasn't much in terms of meat or seafood and zetas! The service can improve, and the waitress did the best she could to describe the different dishes due to language limitations. Nice decorations.

Great & surprising positive experience. We went there almost by chance, called 10 min before going and booked a table with no problem, despite it was 95% full. They were quick at taking the booking, sitting us and more importantly, serving us. The dishes come out really quickly and on point (like if you really were up in China). Wide menu variety, I recommend noodles. Fun thing: you will find yourself in a environment that will remember you 'Blade Runner' or other post apocalyptic movies from the 90's. When you get out the restaurant and walk to the right, you'll also see the neon of Capitol cinemas, that area is the little China from Madrid, enjoy the full experience. Low, fair rates (less than 25€/person) 5/5 for the overall experience I recommend

Pedimos el menú degustación de 28€ para 3 personas y quedamos saciados. Le falta especia y es algo caro para lo que ofrece realmente. Muy buena atención por parte de los camareros. Comida fresca, pero sabores nada especiales y pagas algo más por la localización y el ambiente. Históricamente es el primer chino de ESPAÑA y los reyes han ido a comer en él. Pan de cortesía estaba muy bueno, dulce y picante. Muy umami. La camarera te dice los precios de la cerveza antes de pedir, primera vez que me lo hacen en Madrid. Se nota la frescura de los alimentos en todo momento. Las cocciones eran perfectas y las porciones de comida fueron justas para quedarnos saciados. Menú degustación 28€: Pollo frío fermentado en soja muy bueno. Salsa de soja fina. Pollo suave. Col fresca. Rollito negro. Buena col. Fideos dentro como en la receta original. Servido en puerro frito, rúcula y fideos de arroz frito. Dimsum: sabrosos, normales pero buenos. Relleno fresco y jugosos, masa fresca y jugosa y firme Tallarines: Muy normales 5/10 están bien pero nada especial, han bajado la media de la puntuación porque no tenían casi pollo y de verdad no sabían a nada. Ternera: muy buena pinta. Servido con verduras en tempura umami y puerro. MUY suave. Buen sabor y buen plato para finalizar el menú. Tarta de queso de te matcha con helado de vainilla: Estaba bien, la porción es enana, pero por lo menos dejaba buen sabor de boca. No sabíamos que pedir y el menú degustación nos introdujo bien a la cocina de este restaurante. Eché en falta en todos los platos algún elemento que fue interesante y adictivo, pero todo era más bien comida China reglamentaria hecha y presentada de forma algo más sofisticada, pero sin atender a la explosividad de sabores tan tipica de la comida China tradicional con su glutamato y las especias fuertes.
