Pizza was excellent and caprese salad was OK but we were upsold wine (€23 for a bottle, which was a decent Valpolicella) which I was told was all they had: no wine list was available. Then a couple of locals arrived and they were presented with 2 bottles (neither of them the Valpolicella) from which they were offered a taste. When I asked the waiter why we weren't offered the same courtesy, nor the option of the other wines, his ability to speak or understand English disappeared. I did however manage to establish that both were cheaper than the Valpolicella. A disgraceful up selling to tourists whom this waiter clearly thinks are in Madrid only to be fleeced by disreputable so-called hospitality workers. It's a shame really because I might well have chosen the Valpolicella if given the choice but we'll never know because I won't be going back there to find out. I'll also be advising my many British and American colleagues who are joining me to work in Madrid at our new high-tech startup to look elsewhere for an Italian restaurant which cares more about its customers than making a few extra €s from up...
Read moreFiaschetteria La Saletta was a great Italian restaurant. It is in a food court with the restaurant on the upper level (go upstairs from the street) . The restaurant signage is not obvious, but the restaurant takes up the entire inside of the right side of the floor. My family shared a Margarita pizza, a burrata and basil pizza and a porchetta appetizer. The pizzas were both excellent with crispy thin crust and great taste. I would guess that the diameter of the pizzas was about 10-12” (25-30cm). The porchetta was also excellent with crispy skin and juicy meat. The homemade tiramisu for dessert was light and fluffy and a nice coffee taste. It was nice that they served filtered water and not bottled water. Our server Francesco was prompt and friendly and spoke English well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great and affordable Italian...
Read moreThis little restaurant in the middle ofthe market is a gem. Other positive reviews led us to try it yesterday we were not disappointed. We ordered off the menu of the day and had salads and pasta dishes. The foot was hot and tasty with quality ingredients. The set menu came with bread, a very good Italian wine and a coffee to finish. At 10.50 euros it was a great deal!

Francisco, one of the chefs, prepared this spinach ricotta dish perfectly and the presentation was beautiful. The writer chose a good wine to go with the meal. This restaurant is very good value...
