We were on vacation in Madrid and chose this particular restaurant for a beautiful evening meal. We walked in and a girl informed us that the only available table was at the bar. But another one came and said if you leave at 20:30 I can also put you at a normal table (it was 19:00) and we agreed. Going to the back of the restaurant, there was an employee, who looked at us with discomfort and said to his colleague "20:30 I'm leaving", which made us feel very bad. We sat down at the table ordered our two drinks, asking for help with the food as the menu was in Spanish not English. No one came to help. No one bothered. Instead, they were taking out trash, vacuuming, and I couldn't even hear my husband sitting next to me, dusting and doing chores because they were waiting for people later. I have never felt more undervalued anywhere. Their behavior was unacceptable. Totally unprofessional. We asked to speak to the manager, who simply said "sorry" and brought the bill. They weren't even worth the €30 we paid for the two drinks. Unacceptable.
(I saw your reply... such a lie. Try to respect the customers and not lie about what happened. Shame on you. Are you saying we couldn't find another restaurant in all of Madrid to eat and we wanted to stay where they were cleaning?? What a lie...) We were NEVER prewarned of the vacuum cleaning next to us, otherwise we wouldn't have accepted this downgraded treatment; as...

The food was exceptional. The mussels in escabeche (served straight from a premium tin) paired beautifully with their house-made chips — simple yet elevated. The tuna tartare was a standout: fresh, perfectly seasoned, and paired with crispy toast. The artichoke petals were visually stunning and delicately flavored. Fresh oysters on ice added a briny touch of luxury, while the drinks were as crafted as the dishes — one served in a dramatic black tiki-style cup with crushed ice and citrus, the other a refreshing berry-infused cocktail with mint and raspberries.
Presentation across the board was impeccable, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. It’s clear that Manero puts pride into every detail, from plating to plating atmosphere.
