Restaurante La Vanduca — Restaurant in Madrid

If I could give zero stars, I would. My friend and I were casually exploring the area looking for a place to have dinner when we came across this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the waiter immediately asked if we had a reservation. When we said no, he sighed loudly and seemed visibly annoyed, despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. We were then seated in a corner facing a wall, even though plenty of other tables were open. The same waiter informed us, in a rude tone, that we only had an hour and a half to dine (not that we planned to stay longer, but the attitude was off-putting). When ordering an appetizer, I asked if it was possible to substitute the spicy mayo for regular mayo, he responded with a condescending attitude, telling me that the spicy mayo already comes on the side. When I asked if any other sauce substitutions were possible, he flatly said no, that they didn’t have any other sauces at all available. Later, when I ordered a burger, he acknowledged it and moved on to my friend’s order. When she also ordered a burger, he asked how she wanted it cooked. I answered “medium” for both of us as he never asked me, but then he looked back at me and asked if I wanted a burger as well, even though I had just ordered one first. His entire demeanor was rude and dismissive, clearly showing he didn’t want us there. Ultimately, we decided to leave right away without eating and cancel the order because his attitude had already spoiled the evening. While we never got to try the food, the unprofessional and unpleasant behaviour of this waiter completely ruined...

Immediately the host/waiter rudely greeted us and made us feel very unwelcome by not having a reservation despite no other people being in the establishment. We were seated and spoken to with disrespect as the waiter tried to rush us and was visibly annoyed with our presence. It was as if he was doing us a huge favour by entertaining our menu inquiries and questions about portions etc. The entire interaction with the employee left us with a poor taste and we decided to simply leave immediately and cancel the order we had just placed. Came by for lunch. As I walked in, there was no one to receive me and show me to a table. I realised it was full so looked outside and saw several tables free. Again, no one interested in offering service so I grabbed a table on my own. Eventually got my starter but realised there was no fork. Waited 5 minutes to finally get hold of someone to bring me a fork, by the time of which the food was cold. When my starter arrived, my napkin was gone and I needed more salt. Waited 10 minutes to get the waiter's attention and again ate my food cold... You can imagine the story for paying, with the waiter demonstratively ignoring me. Poor service and mediocre food as I never tasted it warm. Why...
